He watches her. He always watches her.
The warm glow of the fireplace cascades softly over her curled figure as she rests her elbows on a ruby red cushion, a thick book clutched in her hand. Concentration overtakes her delicate features: her brow furrows in seriousness, her full lips a swollen red as she bites down nervously, and the delicate curve of her cheek rests in the palm of her hand. A loose ribbon fastens back her wavy brunette hair, but a few rebellious curls tumble loosely around her face and she twitches in irritation attempting to toss them back. Beneath the thin cotton of her blouse her sturdy shoulders wriggle, as she crawls down onto her forearms, the translucent material framing her slender figure. The pleated black skirt falls loosely around her plump thighs and scrunches up slightly around her hips, her smooth legs arc around the fire, her body making up the shape of a semi-circle. Her lack of awareness seems strangely endearing to him as he strides into the circular room unnoticed and catches sight of the title 'Potions: a historical study' causing the sides of his thin lips to flicker up slightly in the ghostly remnants of a smile. There is a subtle beauty about her that at first glance may be overlooked like the books that she reads there are many pages to her bookish charm. She doesn't create a striking impression when she enters a room, but overtime a sense of familiarity builds as she gradually surrounds you as though she's always been a part of you. The small lingering details in your subconscious thoughts: the way that her button nose wrinkles in mirth as she reads a particularly amusing passage, the way her warm treacle coloured eyes lower and her cheeks blush a pink when paid a compliment and the faint lingering scent of jasmine that hangs in the air after she leaves. She is completely unaware of her charming radiance as she defers her focus from her book to the man standing before her, caught in her spell.
"I'm sorry Professor Snape," she smiles politely. "Do you need something?"
Speechless and frozen he just stares right through her.
