James and Lily Potter got the surprise of a lifetime July 31, 1980 when not one, but two sons were born. This led to a great deal of confusion for Lily, as she had been told she was only carrying one child.

"James, what's going on? Why are the healers acting so odd?" Lily questioned in and exhausted panic. The healer beat him to it when she walked back over.

"Congratulations you have one healthy son and another on the way!"

"How is this possible?" James asked the healer, "We were told there was only one child."

"This happens sometimes with magical twins" the healer explained patiently, "They are so close and their magical cores are so similar that they can appear as one child in the scans."

"I can't wait to tell Remus!" James thought. "It would be excellent to have him be a godfather as well." Of course Lily was following a very different train of thought as she went through the process yet again.

A few hours later Sirius and Remus, James' best friends and rather close to Lily as well, walked into St. Mungo's in search of their new godson/honorary nephew. As they walked into the ward they saw James leaning over Lily cooing at what could only be the young Harry.

"Eh Prongs, mind if I see my godson?" Sirius asking practically bursting with excitement.

"Course Padfoot." He said standing with a grin and stepping aside revealing Lily and the two bundles. "Meet Harry James Potter and his identical twin Aidan Sirius! And before either of you say anything, Moony we want you to be Aidan's godfather." Complete shock crossed the faces of the two young men who thought they'd seen it all.

"I would be honored to be his godfather mate, but Lily are you sure with my condition and all….."

"Remus you should know by now that doesn't mean squat to us" she chastised. "And I'm in no mood for an argument!" sending a teasing glare his way. Both proud godfathers carefully cradled the tiny boys in their arms and swore that, no matter what, they would win this war for them.

Upon returning home James gave Lily Aidan so that he could conjure a second crib in the nursery. However as soon as Lily and James returned to their room their was a crack from the nursery sending both parents sprinting back across the hall. To their surprise Harry was now laying beside Aidan, with his crib completely gone. As the two snuggled closer together it became an easy decision to simply leave them where they were.
