This is something I wrote as an assignment a while back. It's inspired by Romeo and Juliet (mainly the movie) but, it's not about Romeo and Juliet; it's just about two nameless characters. No, it's not great, and no I'm not a poet. Coming from me, this is a pretty good poem lol.

Just Two People

They were only two people who met by chance

She caught his eyes, he asked her to dance.

Oh if her mother knew about this she'd be in great trouble

Her secret crush was at the bar watching from a distance as he ordered a double.

There was something about this boy that gave her butterflies

She concluded it had to have been his eyes.

The eyes that sparkled as he glided then across the dance floor

It seemed she couldn't form a straight thought anymore.

The song ended and so did their dance

She smiled inside for taking this chance.

Being with this boy would cause her trouble soon

Maybe if she hid well enough it could wait until the next afternoon.

Surely her mother couldn't tear them apart

Take away this boy that stole her heart.

They walked outside into the cold night air

His smile made her coyly play with her hair.

She knew her life would never be the same

All because of this boy and she didn't even know his name.
