Wolf's Law
It was quite a unique night; the night Klaus met her. He had been so low and she was such a vision to be seen. The light of his life, quite literally in fact.
All he had been doing since he arrived back in London was drink in taverns and this night was no different from the rest…or so he thought.
He had just finished his second mug of ale when he saw her for the first time; it was then when he lost all train of thought. For the first time in nearly 800 years, he didn't care about being a bastard. He didn't wonder about which sibling to dagger next and above all for the very first time he didn't have to worry about having to run and hide from his father.
He felt content, and it was all down to this girl; this barmaid.
It was quite obvious that she was a barmaid because of the tray of empty ale mugs and the dirty apron she wore around her waist. She wore a deep red gown with a matching shawl over her shoulders tied up at the back, her dark hair was pinned up at the front and all loose at the back; showing hints of curls.
It was her eyes more than anything that had him drawn to her. The dark chocolate orbs seemed to make him feel like he was melting on the inside, like snow or ice in direct sunlight.
'What is the matter with you?' he thought to himself 'you have never felt anything for a human, not for a very long time; not since tatia…' the thought of tatia made his stomach churn. He had not thought of the original Petrova for many centuries and yet whenever he used to; he would feel nothing but hurt, sadness and loneliness because deep down; Klaus knew that if tatia had lived long enough to choose which Michelson brother she wanted to spend the rest of her life with, then it would've been Elijah
"Are you alright sweetheart, would you like another drink?" the voice shook Klaus out of his reverie. He looked up to see the exact barmaid he had been staring at smiling down at him.
"No thanks love, I think I should get going, but thank you for asking miss..?" his voice wandered. "Clara" she said with a smile "just clara."
"Clara" he repeated just to hear the words. "It's very nice to meet you" he said briefly kissing her hand "I didn't get your name" she said sweetly, blushing in the process. Klaus turned around, giving her his signature smirk "Nik, just call me nik."
"Well the feeling mutual, lovely to meet you Nik" and with that, she turned and continued on with her work, leaving the once brooding vampire standing in the room with a Cheshire cat grin on his face.
It wouldn't be until years later however, when they would meet again.
