Really, really heavy
"Get on!" Daisuke descended back to the ground next to an injured Riku.
"Huh?"
"You don't wanna strain it. This way it won't get worse."
"No, I can't. I'm too heavy to carry on your back."
"I'll be fine. The sky doesn't look so good, and I can hear thunders, so we better get hurry."
"Listen, once it feels better, I'll jump off."
Daisuke nodded, but Riku wasn't convinced.
"Are you sure? I'm heavy!"
"Yeah, yeah…"
Riku? Being heavy?! Come on…
After 10 epically long minutes, involving a pounding heart, an almost lethal gravity check, and an unwelcomed joke, a train of thoughts leading to a fate-turning realization in Riku was triggered. But she wasn't the only one with surprising thoughts in her mind…
To tell the truth, I've always known.
I've never known. Never even imagined… How could she weigh so much? I mean, she seems to be really thin, with her small body and all. No problem, we will still reach the top. It will just... take more time.
Since the first time we were classmates in the eight grade.
Since eight grade! She has been an active sportsman since then. She is the fittest, most athletic girl I know. You would think that pays off.
He's clumsy and unpredictable, but he always tries so hard.
I'm trying my best, but it's more dicey than I thought. If we slip back again because of her plus tons— erm, kilos, I mean! Plus kilos. So if we slip back just like before… I don't think I will have the energy to climb back again.
And he thinks everything through so carefully.
Maybe it wasn't a great idea after all. Taking her to the top on my back just because it might rain… What was I thinking! Okay, I didn't know she was a sumo champion in incognito, but still… And she didn't even like my joke!
The more I'm with him, I realize we have so much in common.
The more I carry her on my back, I realize my chances of surviving are getting slimmer and slimmer. All my life-long training… it was futile. So this is the way I die, not in a prison, but with a hea- Oh, wait! Here we are! If only I could reach that rock…
The truth is that—
"Here we are, Miss Harada. I'll let you off."
And so Daisuke collapsed to the ground, breathing heavily.
"Is your foot feeling any better, Miss Harada? Huh…? Miss Harada?"
"Don't say that."
"Huh?"
"You always say Miss Harada, and I can't tell if you mean Risa or me!"
"Huh?"I didn't even occur to me. Could it be that Risa is also… well…
"Just never mind. Forget it. I shouldn't have said anything." Too late.
The sky roared, as a sing of approval for Riku's idea to remain silent indeed and be grateful to Daisuke for his arduous achievement. Riku, however, was startled and threw himself onto Daisuke. The surprised boy's heart pounded one last time, as he felt the real weight of Riku.
"But, why am I…?" And so, with these famous last words life abandoned Daisuke's flattened body.
Look, it is just a parody, I don't really think Riku is fat. I like both these characters, and I also like them as a couple, so please, don't rip me apart. Also, English is not my native language, so I can only hope I didn't make too many mistakes. Anyway, I hope you liked it.
