Disclaimer: I do not own Sonic.

The proud city of Station Square, broken and battered by the very ocean it adored, is filled with the cacophony of dying police sirens and swarms of hastily deployed helicopters. Waterlogged loudspeakers shriek warnings and instructions onto the deaf ears of a panicking population.

The rising water consumes all in its path. People, vehicles, even skyscrapers wash into the ocean as if they were merely grains of sand; their struggles are muted by the unforgiving roar of floodwater. And there It is, the mastermind behind it all, horrible and glorious in Its final form. The God of Destruction, Perfect Chaos, declares that now It is free, now It is free and all will fall to Its power. But Its celebration is cut short. What is this? What is this sound that rises above the beautiful chaos, It wonders. The people caught in the waters? Their faces, once contorted with the agony of defeat, are shining (why do they shine why do I feel like somethings coming something like me something more powerful) with joy. They chant the name of their savior.

Sonic, Sonic

There he is! There he is, on the shattered remains of a building. Did they think he would avenge this watery graveyard? But what can he do? He was nothing, he would become part of the ocean of chaos and there would be none of this chanting, not any more.

Sonic, Sonic

It laughs at him with renewed confidence (no reason to fear he is puny he is nothing he cannot take on chaos Chaos). Then suddenly, suddenly, light! Blinding light, powerful light, and now He is shining, shining like the faces of the people, shining with the glow of rekindled hope.

Sonic, Sonic

It does not admit that It is worried (what can that light do to me I am strong I am chaos Chaos I am a God), but It knows something is wrong. That He should not shine like that, that those people should not be happy to see Him like that, that He should not have that kind of power… The same power that It had.

Sonic, Sonic

Now He is flying with that powerful light above the water, above the chaos, speeding towards It with no concern, no fear, because He knows that He is stronger. Slash! Burn! He rips through It, tears It down and It screams the same ugly scream of the people It terrorized (who is He what is He how did He do this to me I cannot fall I am chaos Chaos I am a God). No time to retaliate, no time to fend off His shining light, and the next thing It knows the battle is over, all over.

He wastes no time, flying back across the raging waters. But the ocean is soon humbled. The waters shudder, reverberating Its anguished cries (no how did I fail how did the chaos Chaos die), and then everything is peaceful again. He returns to His friends and lets the heat of battle, His shining light fade away, and soon he is no longer glowing at all. The police see that he has saved the people. The helicopters see that he has saved the city. They quiet down as well. The savior takes advantage of the silence and leaves them all, going to new lands, to new places. Its voice gets fainter as he gets farther and farther away from the city, but he can hear It still.

(but am a God… who is He… what is He… could He-)

The sound barrier shatters. Silence. Peace.

Away from the city, away from his triumph he goes. Who is he? What is he? Could he… Could he possibly be…?

The victor smiles and runs faster, disappearing on the horizon.

…Could he possibly be a God as well?
