"When someone we all know and love suddenly goes away.
We don't know what to do.
We don't know what to say.
No one believes what they hear.
Slowly we all shed a tear.
The sky looks so dark, lonely and grey.
It sets the tone on this tragic day.
Everybody gathers around.
But no one dares to make a sound.
No birds will chirp.
No mice will squeak.
Now, one by one, we will all speak.
Of a brave girl we all once knew.
The news of her death is sad, yet true.
Maybe it was for the better after all, we won the war.
So what is this empty feeling that wasn't here before?
Rachel was a true friend, a daughter, and a sister.
I cannot begin to say how much I will miss her.
Her fall was unexpected, why did she have to die?
I'm really, really sorry; please forgive me, if I cry.
She sacrificed everything, knowing what the cost.
It is true we won the war, but at the same time, we have lost.
So as we all stand here, haunted by our thoughts.
Of a girl that we once knew made of nothing but guts.
But even though her body may be gone.
She will remain alive forever, inside of all of us."
I wrote this poem myself about a year ago when my friend's mother passed away. I thought it would be good for Animorphs. So I edited it a little and added on and well this happened.
