Chapter 1
The sky was pitch black as Dinah Winters walked past the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She heard a multitude of shouts and various spells being cast from inside the castle, where the Battle of Hogwarts was taking place. Dinah was happy that she never went to Hogwarts. If she did, she would have to be a part of the battle as well. Dinah was a highly skilled witch. She had learned all of the important spells by herself right before she turned eleven, and she was sure her Hogwarts letter would arrive the next month, but for some reason, it didn't. Her mom tried to cheer her up by telling her it was because she already knew everything. Dinah didn't mind not going because it meant that she could spend more time at home where she was happiest. Unfortunately, that happiness didn't last very long. One very cold Fall day, when Dinah was 16, her mom had gotten very sick, and it was only three days until she had died. Dinah had no father or anyone to take care of her, so she took care of herself.
The memory was so vivid as Dinah walked past the school towards her house, where she lived alone. As she walked, she saw a figure sprawled on the ground in front of her, seemingly unconscious. Cautiously, Dinah approached the figure, a woman who was wearing all black and had long, curly hair covering her face. Dinah leaned down and brushed the woman's jet black hair out of her face. She took one look and jumped back with fear. She recognized the woman from all the "Wanted" posters all over her neighborhood just a few years back. It was none other than the notorious death eater, Bellatrix Lestrange. Dinah knew that she could be dangerous, but she also felt bad for the dark witch. She decided to choose sympathy over fear and take Bellatrix to her house.
She was too heavy for Dinah to carry by herself, so Dinah used the featherweight charm to make her light enough for the rest of the walk home. Once inside, Dinah carried Bellatrix to the bed and laid her down. "Why am I doing this? She could very well kill me when she wakes up." Dinah worried, pacing the room. As soon as she said that, Dinah heard a rustling behind her. She slowly turned around, looking into the eyes of the death eater, now fully awake and giving Dinah her deadly glare...
