Hi there everyone! Here's my first BJ story, don't really know if I'll ever write another one, maybe. It was supposed to be a oneshot at first but it turned so enjoyable (for me) that I just couldn't stop writting! Can you believe that this idea came out from a dream?? Yes, I dreamt of BJ and Lydz xDD It's probably 'cause I love the series sooo much, and especially this friendship that could possibly turn into love in the future (we all know it's true, I mean, aren't they the most adorable friends in the world?)

By the way, this is ONLY going to have 2 parts, sorry but that's all I can give you for now. Anyway, hope you like it!

"Text" this means thoughts.

-Text- this means dialogue.

Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters in this story. Beetlejuice and Lydia Deetz belong to master Tim Burton and him alone!

First day. Part I

It was a quiet day in Peaceful Pines. The wind was blowing softly as people walked normally, some holding their children's hands or hugging their lovers. Just a few were alone...It was almost boring, but beautiful. A very peaceful evening in a peaceful town.

The sun was about to settle in a couple of hours and since it was Sunday all the families decided to go out together, except for one. Well, maybe not only hers.

A young girl was walking all by herself in a small park with her camera between her pale, delicate hands. As her parents felt just too lazy that day to take her out, she decided to take a walk on her own.

It didn't bother her; she was used to being alone sometimes and she happened to be having a good time just hanging around and taking some photos with her camera.

Lydia turned her head to take a look at her house, placed in a small hill near that park. She could barely see Delia's form through a window; her step-mother was probably making a new "masterpiece". Her father would be probably staring at the TV or taking a nap to relax.

She sighed as her hands positioned the camera to take a new photo.

Lovely. A ladybug in a flower resting on her back (or rather trying to turn around), with her house in the distance as the background.

She kept walking slowly, looking everywhere in search for her own "masterpiece", but since she was only interested in strange things, it was strange to find them. As her black eyes looked into people's eyes, hoping to find inspiration in a stranger's face, she noticed some stared back at her or her clothes, some said hi, but many of them tried to avoid her gaze.

Well, that wasn't abnormal. She was used to that too.

Being strange herself was difficult, especially when you're trying to make some friends at school, which she couldn't do yet. Sadly, she didn't know exactly how to make friends.

Her pale cheeks turned reddish at the thought.

Her style wouldn't help much either, but she would never change her black pants and long-sleeved dress for a pink skirt and a t-shirt with some random text.

In that exact moment, a girl around her age walked in front of her wearing something that looked pretty much like what she pictured in her mind just a second ago. She had to suppress a laugh as she took a new photo.

Anyway, the girl looked nice but it definitely wasn't for Lydia.

With every step, she soon found herself near a small fountain which was in front of some kind of stage; there, a few musicians were cleaning their instruments and getting ready to play. Probably classic music. Again.

She sighed deeply. That was like the fifth weekend the same band played and even with the same songs.

At moments like this, even though she knew they were nice and quiet, she couldn't help but think the people from that town were just too superficial and cold.

-Stupid snobs- someone said, with a rough voice, though it sounded amused.

For a moment she was startled. It was like someone read her mind and said, in a rude way, what she was thinking.

She turned her head, finding no one near but when she looked to the right side of the fountain, something caught her attention. Lydia blinked many times, staring at the weird man. She was quite sure she had never seen anyone like him, especially in that town.

"What a curious person" she thought.

He was wearing a suit with white and black vertical stripes, his shirt was light pink and his necktie was black. His arm was resting on the bench in which he was sitting, mumbling something. She noticed he was very dirty, especially his long blond hair, and his clothes were messed up.

Honestly, he looked like a bum.

If people were trying to ignore her, they were obviously avoiding any eye contact with that man. He just smiled at them and every time he did, someone's eyes widened and the person almost ran away from him, scared; but he didn't seem to care, instead he laughed soundly at this.

Suddenly, the blond man turned his head to Lydia, as if knowing she was looking at him and was now staring back, right into her eyes. Then, after a few seconds, he smiled, waving his hand to her. She was surprised, or rather shocked.

But she didn't look away like everyone else; she just kept staring, noticing more and more unusual details. He had green irises though they almost seemed black. His fingers were dirty, with bloody red nails that contrasted with his deathly pale skin and...

"Wait a second, what is that on his ears?" Lydia wondered in her mind "Oh my god! Is that moss!? No, no, no, it has to be... Well, what else could it be? But...Oh come on, moss? He isn't a rock! "

Normally she would have looked away by now, since it would be rude to stare for so long at someone, but she was just too deep into her thoughts to realize.

"And there is something on his teeth, something like... like... Oh no, that's ridiculous! How could he have bugs on his teeth? It must be something else, surely..." she tried to convince herself "Though it does look a lot like a beetle or something"

She noticed he was kinda confused, but not angry, so she just decided to keep staring, watching his face carefully. Every new detail was... how to explain it? He was nasty in a way, sure, but still...

Well, to make it simple, he seemed unusually interesting for her.

Meanwhile, as Lydia didn't reject his gaze, or his odd smile, it was the man's turn to be surprised.

That never happened to him, not today, not ever! No human had dared to stare at him like that, or even look back at him without making a face!

He thought only refined and boring people lived in that town, that's why he liked to go there to bother a few losers; of course, as long as he could make someone say his name three times.

But that girl over there seemed reaaaally different from all the idiots in that place. The opposite, in fact. What was up with those weird clothes, huh? And the hair?

"And why is she soooo freaking pale? I'm pretty sure she's alive" he thought.

He found the girl still staring at him with her black eyes, even when he just frowned in her direction. Oh man! And she wouldn't even look a little scared of him! She was ruining aaaall the fun.

-WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM!?- he suddenly yelled, startling her.

Lydia was brought back to reality in the blink of an eye... Wait a moment, was her mind tricking her or his head ACTUALLY became BIGGER when he yelled?

"Oh come on Lydia, what's wrong with you? How could his head be bigger when he yells?" she said to herself.

Then she realized... Oh right. Did he just yell at her?

-Hey, yeah I'm talking to you!- he confirmed, yelling once more.

Great, he was mad. Well, he surely had his reasons; she had been staring at him for a long time. Probably she made a face or something. Now, the right thing to do was to go there and apologize but... Maybe it'd be better if she just left and leave him alone, right?

For a second, he could swear he saw sadness in the girl's face. Why was that? I mean, he just yelled a bit to bother her, and that was SO NOT the reaction he was expecting. Not scared, but sad? What was wrong with her!!??

Fine then, he would have to make some more effort to scare her away. No big deal.

He grinned at the thoughts that invaded his mind instantly. Some good prank should be more than enough. Oh yes, that town would have a taste of the ghost with the most!

The man turned his head to check on the musicians that were just about to start playing their stupid boring music, and then looked back at the girl. The poor thing was still paralyzed. Maybe he should try to be nice before scaring her to death. Try.

Meanwhile, Lydia felt more and more confused with every second. What was she supposed to do? Apologize or leave? Well, the right thing would be to say "sorry for staring at you, sir"...

Could things possibly get weirder?

-HEY KID!- he called, scaring away a couple that was about to sit beside him.

The young girl could not believe her eyes. That man had just smiled at her, convincing her that what was between his teeth were bugs. Also, he winked, inviting her to sit by his side. And she appeared to understand the message.

Wait a second, was he not mad just a moment ago?

"Agh, forget it! No more shyness"

Though she still felt insecure, Lydia walked step by step, until she reached the bench. He tried once more and grinned, showing proudly his yellow teeth, but she didn't even blink at this.

-Excuse me, may I sit here? - she asked in a polite tone.

-Sure thing, kid! - he answered. Then she simply nodded with a smile and sat beside him. She had a nice smile, he had to admit it, and her voice was kinda sweet to hear too.

She was silent now, staring at her shoes. The girl turned her black eyes to him, smiling again with a slight blush in her pale skin, as she noticed his gaze on her.

Holy crap! She almost looked like a person from the Neitherworld!! Ha ha ha. If only she knew... Well, judging by her style she would surely have some fun there when her time came.

-So, how're ya doing?- he asked. For some reason, he felt like trying to be friendly with her.

Before she could even open her mouth, one of the musicians cleared his throat so the people that gathered around the stage would stop talking.

Lydia sighed heavily. Strangely, she really wanted to answer to that man's question; but now she couldn't.

When the first flutes started to sound, the man knew it was show time, and not exactly THEIRS, but HIS show time!

As the music softly came out of the instruments, some people whispered a few comments in a very low tone. Suddenly an old fat lady happened to say the perfect words for that moment:

-It's like the music beautifully floats through the air to your ears-

As Lydia's eyes rolled with irony at the comment, she also noticed how the woman seemed to be floating herself. Actually, the bench in which she was sitting was lifting from the ground.

No, no, wait, that couldn't be right.

Immediately, she shook her head to clear her mind, but when she saw the woman again, she confirmed that she was really FLOATING!

Suddenly, when she looked carefully once more, she noticed that the bench and the woman were perfectly settled on the grass.

She breathed slowly, trying to calm down. She was just seeing weird things, for some reason... But that seemed so real!

In that instant, the bench lifted again, startling the fat lady but the arm of the bench covered her mouth so she wouldn't scream. Not yet.

Before the girl could react at this, the trumpets appeared to sound louder, and louder, and even louder! They sounded like they were... hold on... were those trumpets screaming!?

"They have mouths!! They even have teeth!" Lydia thought.

Wait, wait, wait. There was NO WAY in which those trumpets had mouths!

Lydia turned her head to her right side, looking at the man beside her, but he didn't' seemed to be aware of the abnormal things that were happening. He just smiled in a weird way and commanded her to keep looking at the musicians.

"Got'cha!" he thought, satisfied to see the confusion in the girl's face as she looked back at the show.

-Ugh, that fountain is just too noisy- another woman said, and Lydia immediately looked for any change in that object, on her left side.

...

Nothing.

Alright. Maybe she was just imagining all those things. Yeah... maybe she was just getting sick or something. She should go and rest.

Then she smiled at the man and waved her hand...

But when she was about to stand up to go home, the water of the fountain stopped coming out. Everyone turned their head's to stare at it, even the musicians eventually stopped playing, probably because they were upset since no one was paying attention to them anymore.

-What happened?- some people asked.

-Is it broken?- some others said.

And then, slowly, people started to stand up from their seats and approached to the fountain.

Deep into her head, Lydia somehow knew what was coming but didn't even bother to stop it.

In the blink of an eye, the whole fountain turned black and white, in vertical stripes, as the water turned into slime with beetles. A mouth popped in some random place of the fountain and started to scream loudly as the people's eyes widened in surprise and panic.

-What the...?-

Then, the slime flew through the air and in a second, everyone were wet and running for their lives as the instruments of the band chased after some old ladies. Also, the band was replaced for new musicians, which were instruments themselves, really odd instruments.

Their music was horrible, too loud and uncoordinated, almost in a scary way since the trumpets kept screaming.

In the middle of all that chaos, Lydia stared at the beetles in her hair, also black and white, which reminded her of the suit the man beside he was wearing.

"Wait, could he possibly have...?" she wondered.

And when she looked at him, even when it was practically impossible, even when there was no way she could be right, she knew it.

Meanwhile, the man was beside himself, laughing maniacally while the rest of the people ran away, slipping and trying to dry their clothes. The old lady from before had just slipped and fell right into a shrub, leaving her awfully fancy dress covered in dirt.

The man watched Lydia from the corner of his eye, laughing even harder. She had her mouth wide open! She reeeeally looked like she was deciding between throwing up and screaming.

But almost at the same time, he stopped his laughter, because he heard HER laughter along. And the worst part was that she wouldn't stop, she just laughed more and more!

His eyes widened and his jaw dropped (literally) to the ground. Honestly, what was wrong with her??

Well, he wasn't pissed off at all, but surprised. I mean, no one EVER found his pranks funny before!

Finally, after a few seconds, Lydia abruptly stopped her laughter when she noticed the man's jaw in the ground, near her feet. She gasped in surprise, stared at the shocked jawless man and suddenly started to laugh again. He actually didn't seem scary at all, even like that!

-Y-You did all... a-all that, right?-she asked him, trying to breathe normally- That was so funny!-

Now she was just giggling, trying to cover her mouth with her hands, but it was completely useless.

-Huh? - was the only thing he could say.

And then, surprisingly, he smiled and slowly started to laugh along with her.

Now, that's all. I'll update part 2 as soon as I can (got a lot of homework from collegue) I really hope I didn't make an outofcharacter Bj or Lydz. You can tell me if I did. PLEASE don't forget to review!!! Your opinion is very important for me, and thanks a lot for reading!
