These western countries are so strange Japan thought as he gased apon his two friends, Germany and Italy. It was shopping day, and they were all picking out their favorites. Germany had stocked up on beer and different kinds of wursts. Italy had picked out pasta, and now Japan was left to pick out seafood. As he looked over the tiny selection in the freezer isle, he absentmindedly though to himself
Who would freeze a fresh fish?
Then, he silently decided to answer his question, pondering it quietly when he was aware of someone shouting his name.
"Japppppaaaaaannnn!!!"
It was an Italian voice, no doubt in Japan's mind that it was Italy. As he turned to greet the Italian he found a orange and white... thing shoved into his face, Italy chirping happily behind it
"Look look Japan! Germany said we could buy these too!"
Japan involuntarily moved back, and took the strange package from Italy's hands. It appeared to be made of a sturdy construction paper like substance. The package was adorned with fish, and a picture with cheese. Japan didn't know what cheese had to do with fish, and looked back up at Italy.
"Italia-Kun, what are these?"
Italy smiled even wider, if that was possible and yanked back the container from Japan's hands and opened it, thrusting inside and yanking out, to Japan's horror, several tiny fish.
"Their Goldfish!" He said with a smile, before throwing the four on his hand into his mouth, crunching on them loudly. Kiku stuttered at every crunch.
"T-There's fish in there? But I didn't feel any water weight..."
crunch crunch crunch, Italy took out more and popped them on his mouth, before handing Japan a few.
"C'mon Japan, try one! Their good! Not as good as pasta, but better than Germany's wursts!"
At that second, the German man rounded the isle and walked up to them.
"Italy!" he started, his voice already raised "Don't run off, you know I get worried. . ." His eye's spied the open Goldfish container in Italy's and he few he had placed in Japan's hand, and quickly took it back.
"Italy, you know your not supposed to open stuff until we've paid for it!"
The Italian smiled sheepishly, before closing the package and giving it to Japan and giving Germany a big hug. As Germany awkwardly reciprocated, Japan looked an the package. Goldfish... He looked at the tiny cracker in his hand and brought it up to his eyes. It was shaped funny to his nose, not like a fish at all, and it was orange and tiny. Maybe it's a bad one... He thought quietly, placing it on the shelf next to him and looking for more. As his hand touched fish of the same size he was even more confused, yanking out an entire handful. As he turned to ask Germany, and found him attempting to keep the Italian man who'd jumped up onto his waist from kissing him, He gave a small cough and Germany realized just where they were. As Germany finally untangled himself from Italy's death grip, Japan handed him the package.
"Doitsu-san, I do believe these goldfish aren't big enough, I do believe their sick."
Germany sighed and opened the package, before taking one out and eatting it.
"They seem fine to me Japan" He said dryly, before looking around "Where's Italy?"
"Italia-kun went in that direction" He pointed and Germany bounded off, screaming after him. Japan pulled out a goldfish and cautiously took a bite. He blinked for a minute, before taking another with a small smile. Yes, these western countries were very strange indeed.
