Ron and Hermione were holding each other tightly when Harry slowly walked down the staircase. Hermione heard footsteps and turned around to see that her best friend Harry was there with a heartbreaking expression on his face.
"Harry what's wrong?" Hermione asked.
"I have to do it. I have to sacrifice myself." Harry said to them. Harry slowly continued past them.
"What? ARE YOU MAD? YOU CAN'T GIVE YOURSELF UP TO HIM!" Ron said with anger.
"HAVE YOU NOT LOOKED AROUND RON! EVERYONE HERE IS DYING OR DEAD BECAUSE OF ME! NO ONE ELSE WILL DIE FOR ME! I deserve it. I deserve to die for the pain that I've caused here. Especially to you Ron, with my actions, Fred was killed. I am so sorry." Harry said with tears in his eyes.
Hermione was already sobbing. She couldn't let Harry go. He was one of her best friends. She would do anything to keep him here.
"Harry…you can't go, please! You shouldn't give your life up to Voldemort! You are a wonderful person and a loyal friend to everyone! Please Harry!" Hermione begged.
Ron was also in tears looking at his two best friends who he's known for 7 years now. It would be absolutely devastating if one of them died. They have been through so much together.
"Harry, you can't do this. Please. We need you here mate." Ron said to Harry.
Harry took a look around. They were standing on a staircase which was half ruined and there were bodies everywhere. He never wanted any of this to happen.
"No. I have to do this. It's the only way no one else will get hurt. I'm ready to confront my fate." Harry wiped his tears before speaking again. "I want to thank the both of you. You've been there with me from the beginning and have been so supportive. You both have been the closest things to me as siblings. I'll never forget you two. I love you both so much and I couldn't have asked for better friends." Harry was getting so emotional because he knew this was the last time he would see them so he wanted to say everything on his mind now.
Hermione lost it and ran up to Harry and gave him a final long hug. "I'm so sorry Harry! I really am! You out of all people do not deserve this!" Hermione said between sobs.
Ron soon joined in the group hug. They all hugged and cried until Harry broke away looked at his two best friends that he would always remember. He gave them a final nod and continued down the staircases to the Forbidden Forest to confront his fate.
Hermione dropped to her knees and cried some more. Harry was going to die. Her best friend was no longer going to be around. She would have to go on knowing Harry won't be there every day. Ron kneeled beside her and held her in his arms.
