No OOC at all, I will do all I can to totally prevent it, by not changing the story.

We all know how Marius and Cosette's story goes, oh and nut case Éponine, but what if it went like this?

Marius and Cosette fall in love, but Éponine is in love with Marius. Éponine dies in Marius's arms, and Marius and Cosette get married the end.

See, that's how you avoid OOCness. While I wanted to write a beautiful Romeo and Juliet story about how 'Ponine and Marius couldn't be together, it would change the characters too much.

But is this what fanfiction is? No, fanfiction is about what the author wants to happen, though they should try to prevent OOCness, they should be allowed to change the story. The story can't be changed if the characters weren't at least a little bit OOC, or else the story wouldn't have happened the same way.

If I wanted to read Les Miserables, I would pick up the freaking book, not go to fanfiction for the same story, but in different words, poems, and drabbles being the exception. I admit that I am an Eppie bopper, which should be avoided, but if I want Marius and Éponine to fall in love, by god, I'll make them fall in love. It's not like I'm feeding false info, I'm not telling people that's what happened in the story, and I'm not trying to change the original story, or saying this is better. This is a simple "What if". So while I personally like Marius/Eponine, I'm also fine with Marius/Cosette, Cosette/Montparnasse, Grantaire/Combeferre or hell, Enjolras/Fantine. This is fanfiction people, I like reading whatever I think is good, and not too OOC or stupid. People should be free to write as they please, and if you don't like it, then don't read it.

Don't flame people just because they decided to make Cosette a witch, give it a chance before freaking out.

Here's what you shouldn't do

Make Éponine, Azelma, or Fantine (when she's a prostitute) pretty, without some changes, such as a bath.

Make Cosette a complete bitch (unless you have a really good reason)

Make Montparnasse nice (unless, you have a good reason)

Make Enjolras lose the vest (Don't make the world cry)

Make Grantaire an angry mean drunk (he's more of a sarcastic drunk)

Make Thénardier care about his daughters (unless you have some epic backstory behind it)

Make Javert a really bad guy

Make Eponine some virtuous nun
