Helen lost too many loved ones in her lifetime. She wanted to be with someone she could truly love and spend the rest of her immortal life with. Ashley was killed by the cabal's brainwashing, John had an illusion of love which she didn't share, her former protege's, Warren. Peter and Franklin all died, her mother left when she was 11, her father had disappeared, come back and disappeared again. Helen didn't want to lose anyone else. She had tried to make herself mortal but she discovered it to be a disastrous scenario. Helen walked through the sanctuary, making sure to say hello to any residents or staff that passed her.
While she walked, she continued to think. She received many scars from the ones who left this earth, both physical and emotional.
When her mother was still apart of the family, she had burned Helen's thigh with a pot iron and then a year later she left. Helen loved her mother very much, even after all the abuse and it was quite hard on her and her father. The her father disappeared on that expedition and it was hard for her to cope. When he reappeared, Helen was overfilled with joy. She was a true daddy's girl but he said he needed to leave and Helen was alone once again. Sure she had will, Henry and then Ashley but no one that could truly love her. Warren died of old age at the age of 74 but he had stopped being her protege 10 years before once his heart attacks began. Peter had been possessed by a parasite and attempted to kill her. It was during big guy's second year in the sanctuary and he had been forced to shoot the man before peter stabbed Helen Magnus in the chest. 15 years later her newest protege Franklin was killed when they found a highly dangerous abnormal. Then finally her own flesh and blood. Her daughter Ashley, kidnapped by the cabal, transformed and brainwashed. She gave Helen her most visible scars. Four large gashes on her upper right arm. Helen always made sure to cover them whenever out of her room. She had to live with the reminder, everyone else didn't have to.
Helen went to her wine cellar and grabbed a good bottle of wine and proceeded to her original destination.
Soon she was up on the roof of the east tower. She usually went to the north tower but this is where Ashley would always go to think. Helen had locked herself away the first week that Ashley died but had to come out of her shell. Now it was the one year anniversary of Ashley's death.
Helen sat, her legs hanging loosely over the roof's edge. She drank straight from the wine bottle. It took a lot to get her drunk, and one bottle wasn't enough but Helen needed a release. The bottle was empty after an hour. Helen suddenly smashed the bottle against the rooftop. The glass cut into her hand, wrist and arm. She was bleeding pretty badly but Helen didn't feel the pain. Her anger suddenly dissolved into tears.
She was suddenly aware of someone standing right behind her. She turned around quickly ready to hurt whoever was courageous enough to disturb her.
She saw Nikola with a genuinely sympathetic expression gracing his handsome features.
She said nothing, he said nothing. Nikola sat right close to her and put his arm around her shoulders. He took her wounded arm and ripped his black tuxedo jacket into several pieces and wrapped her arm, wrist and hand in it. They would need stitches but this would do for now. Helen looked at him slightly shocked at what he had done to his jacket but still said nothing. She leaned her head onto his shoulder.
After being this way for close to fifteen minutes, Helen spoke.
"I'm so sick of being alone, i want someone to truly love me."
'I love you Helen, I mean it. I know the last time i told you was disastrous but I love you with my now human heart." Nikola confessed. When he had become a human again, he gained powers, like his magnetic ability and Helen's longevity.
"I love you too." Helen kissed him softly.
"I'll stay with you forever." Nikola promised kissing Helen's forehead.
