Evolution Rewritten
Summary: Basically, my own version of X-Men Evolution. Warning, some characters have been switched around.
Disclaimer: It's quite obvious I don't own X-Men. But I do own the story.
Chapter 1
Bayville, New York
It was early morning. Sunlight was just beginning to peek through the trees that surrounded the very large and very old Xavier estate. The estate was owned by Charles Xavier. The last of his family. And probably one of the wealthiest people in New York.
A rather expensive-looking car pulled into the driveway. The driver's side door opened and a tall, blond, well-dressed woman in her mid thirties stepped out. She strode up the long driveway leading up to the mansion. She knocked on the door and waited. She didn't have to wait long. Only seconds later, the door opened revealing a bald man in his mid fifties bound to a wheelchair.
"Ah, good morning Emma." The man greeted politely.
"You know I hate mornings, Charles." Emma said.
Charles smiled.
"I know. It was like pulling teeth trying to wake you up for school. Come in."
Emma followed Charles Xavier through the foyer and into the kitchen. Charles gestured toward a chair.
"Would you like some coffee?"
"Yes please." Emma replied, pulling up a chair.
Emma took one look around the kitchen. Nothing had changed since she'd been here last. The place still had that feeling of home to it. Emma's mind began to drift back to when she was a teenager and living at the mansion as a full-time student of Xavier's. Those had to be the best times of her life. When the only thing she had to worry about was getting caught by Mr. Logan while trying to sneak out at night. Or being the victim of one of Sean's pranks. She didn't have her father constantly grilling her about running the family business or her mother's incessant nagging. Or that hag of a sister who did everything in her power to make her life hell. She had friends, freedom, and most importantly, she didn't feel like an outcast because of her gift.
'I'm sorry Emma. I wasn't aware you were having difficulties.'
Emma was startled out of her thoughts by Charles' voice in her head.
'You shouldn't read anyone else's mind without permission.' She thought back.
'And how many times did I have to tell you that?' Xavier sent back.
'Good point.'
Emma cleared her throat.
"So, Charles, I'm assuming you didn't invite me here just to make small talk."
Xavier's smile faded.
"I need your help."
"With what?"
Xavier produced a slightly crumpled letter from where it had been sitting on the counter top. He passed it to Emma and she began to read it. When she finished, she was frowning.
"Are you sure that's a good idea Charles?" she asked. "After everything with Proudstar?"
"I have no choice Emma. There are so many young mutants out there with no one to help them."
"So what is it you need me to do?"
Xavier passed Emma a slip of paper with an address on it.
"I need you to go to Connecticut. A good friend of mine has just informed me that his daughter is exhibiting mutant abilities."
"Why are you sending me? If you know this person than it would be better if you went."
"I need to contact the others." Xavier replied. "Besides, I believe you can relate to this girl."
Emma sighed.
"All right." She said, getting up and heading out of the kitchen. But she suddenly stopped and turned to face her former teacher.
"I still don't think it's a good idea." She said.
"I understand." Xavier said. "But this is more important."
Emma didn't bother to argue with him. Instead, she left the mansion, got back in her car and drove off toward her destination.
