If Dean doesn't want to die, then there's hope. Finally.
He's raced toward the end for months, piling through the Deadly Sins, and it's made Sam lonely and desperate and tired. Like the Dean he once knew was already gone.
"I'm sorry I pushed you away."
He'd confronted Dean with it but the disconnection remained, with Dean still walled off and untouchable. It's the first time Dean's admitted it, and God, it matters—more than Sam expected.
"I understand," Sam says, chest aching. "It's okay."
He forgives Dean for panicking... but not for dying.
Does Dean forgive him for living?
