She never wanted you to know
By Puzzler
Disclaimer – I don't own any of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer characters, and I'm only borrowing them for fun.
Summary – After Buffy tells the gang she's been in heaven, they are horrified at what they've done. But how do they really react? Add on to 'Once More With Feeling'
Set as an add on to the musical episode 'Once More With Feeling'. I know it is very short, and it may not fit in with episodes after this, but I wanted to write it anyway.
She never wanted you to know
The Magic Box, around 7pm, the day after Buffy's 'announcement'
"Maybe we should be going back now. It's getting dark." Willow suggested, but not really wanting to move.
"Nah, we'll be alright. We can wait a bit longer. Let's give Buffy a little longer alone.
She's probably out patrolling by now." Xander replied
"Well, I'll head home now anyway. I'll see you tomorrow."
"Alright. Bye Giles."
There was silence for a few moments after the door closed behind Giles, eventually broken by Anya.
"I don't understand. Why didn't she tell us? If she had, we…we might have been able to help her somehow."
"I guess she didn't want us to feel like this, or to feel sorry for her."
"She didn't want you to ever know." Came Spike's voice from the back of the shop. No one had noticed him enter the shop by the back door.
"Spike, what are you…?" Xander started, before cutting himself off. "You knew, didn't you? Why didn't you say anything?"
"She told me a couple of days after you brought her back, but that you could never, ever know."
"What did she tell you? We know now, please tell us." Tara said, hoping it would make things easier on everyone if they knew.
"She said that where she was everything was easy." Spike started. "That she was loved and at peace. She said that here everything was bright and violent…"
"Wait." Dawn spoke up for the first time. "When we were on that tower, when she first came back, Buffy said something to me but I didn't really understand. The very first thing she said was 'Is this hell?' Now I know what she meant."
"Compared to heaven, this world must feel like hell."
"But…what can we do? If I had known I never would have pulled her out the way I did. It's my fault that she's going through all this."
"No Willow, there's no way you could have known. But now she's here, we have to make everything the best it can be, for her sake."
"All we can do now is to be there for her."
The end.
