When they were Young Wednesday
I rather like this… NO ROBYN! No more starting new stories! Finish the other ones and work on your novel darn it!
Star Crossed Meeting
His first attempt at time travel was less then a complete success.
Querl coughed at the fumes filling his pod and tried to open the door. It wouldn't comply with its manual opening mechanism or budge when he pushed against it. Still coughing he leaned as far back as he could go and kicked the door once, twice, three times before it opened.
The young coluan crawled out of the pod and into the chilly night air. He wrapped his arms around himself and stumbled a few times before he came to rest against a tree and brought his knees to his chest.
He was alone, his time travel pod as broken, he was at a unknown location at a unknown time and he had no way of returning home; especially without outside help. It was an impossibly bleak situation. But he wasn't going to cry.
As hot tears threatened to escape his eyes, Querl wondered what would become of him; if he would be the last of the Brainiacs.
There was a sound somewhere behind him; a snap like something breaking.
Magenta eyes darted around, trying to find a place to hide but even if he fled the pod; his only chance of returning to Colu, would be left behind.
"Hey."
Querl nearly ran but he turned to the voice, of which belonged to a young boy, humanoid, possibly an actual human. He was about nine, three years older then he currently was, had white skin, black hair and light blue eyes, almost so blue that they couldn't be a human's.
"You're an alien," the boy stated simply, using a flashlight to observe him.
The Caretaker's lessons of how humans would put aliens in labs and experiment on them ran through Querl's mind. He stood and tried to run but fell; his ankle hurt.
"Hey, don't hurt yourself," the boy kneeled down beside him, setting aside his flashlight and tried to help him up but Querl tried to push him away; tiny hands pounding at his fist; unaware of how the other boy didn't even wince.
"It's okay," the other boy assured him, gently putting his arms around him. "I won't hurt you; I'm an alien too."
His hands stilling, Querl took a shaky breath; feeling his eyes burn and his chest tighten almost painfully tight.
"It's okay," the boy said again, hand gently rubbing his back. "You're safe."
No longer able to hold it back, scalding tears escaped Querl's eyes and he sobbed. He held onto the other boy and buried his face against he chest he had earlier assaulted. Though he had never been held like this before there was something nice about it; it made him think the situation may not be as bad as he has previously thought.
When the green boy calmed, the human looking alien patted his hair.
"My name is Clark, what's yours?"
"Q-Querl."
"It's cold out here; want to come to my house? My Pa can come back for your space ship; he can hide it with mine."
The younger boy sniffled and nodded but then looked down, "M-my ankle hurts."
"It's okay," Clark smiled, "I can carry you."
After turning off the flashlight and slipping it into his pocket, Clark picked up the younger boy and held him close to his chest before heading back towards the house.
Staying against him, Querl lightly held onto his shirt and closed his eyes; letting Clark's warmth fight off the cold night around them.
