It's going to be a good day, is your first conscious thought upon waking.

You're a morning person. Always have been. You really don't know why everyone else seems to have such a problem with them, but why would you? You love waking up. Cosy in your soft bed, duvet bundling you up and – on the best days – a strong arm slung over your midriff, holding you in close.

You smile, eyes still shut, at the ebbs and swells of the soft mounds against your back. It's soothing and you would love nothing more than to let it lull you back to sleep. Alas, your father will be home soon, you're sure and this isn't exactly how you'd planned on cluing him in on your current relationship – particularly as he still believes you to be head over heels Adam. A belief, you hate to admit, that's shared by Adam himself.

But such thoughts can wait. Pushing them aside, you check the clock on your bedside table. To your delight, you've still several hours until he's due to return. Content, you smile, rolling over. It grows as you take in your bedmate. Then sun has cast a warm glow upon her.

She's a deep sleeper. Always has been. Her mouth hangs slightly agape, the occasional grunt and grumble escaping. Unable to help yourself, you press you lips to hers. Her lips curve up into the crooked smile that quite welcomely haunts your every thought and her eyes flutter open. She pulls you in tighter, you close your eyes and snuggle in.

Yeah, you think, it's going to be a good day.
