Kirie's POV

From across the room I gazed at him. The sunlight from the window shone pm his hair and brought out the reddish tinge of his perfect brown hair. As our teacher made what I can only assume was a joke, Light glanced at the clock at the back of the room, and our eyes met. I couldn't wait much longer, how long is this class? I checked my watch, only five more minutes until the bell, then I could finally ask him. Light was so distance lately that he wasn't even able to realize the feelings I possessed for him. Although at one point I might have thought that he could have had similar feelings, I had no idea what he was truly feeling now. A part of me knew that I couldn't get to close, after all I had been friends with the last girl that had tried to date Light, and I was just as shocked as everyone else when she died from a heart attack a couple days later. Ever since then, Light had changed in the past when I approached Light he always seemed so friendly, but in the last few weeks, he had changed completely. Although everything that had happened, I knew that I needed to ask him, and that nothing couldstop me, not even death.

As the bell rung to signify the end of the class, I watched as Light gathered his books. This was my chance, I knew that this might be my last opportunity to talk to him before the summer break.

"Hi Light."

Light glanced around and than replied, "Oh, hello Kirie." Thesight of his perfect brown eyes threw me off momentarily. "I was wondering if, um, you might want to..." Light'seyes flashed amused by my timid ness, "If I want to what?" I had thought this moment over at least a hundred times in my head, but now that I was standing before Light, I couldn't quite get the words out. I stood there petrified, staring at my shoes. "Kirie, I am sorry, but I am kind of in a rush. I have somewhere to be." Oh god, oh god, I was going to blow this. He started to turn away, when I shouted, a little louder than intended, "Will you go out with me."

The people at the front of the class turned to face us and started laughing. Light turned back to face me. The expression on his face was one of utter shock. I was suddenly worried, as he flashed that sweet smile that had infatuated me from the start. Suddenly his smile was gone, andhe started to speak.
