AN:- One shot because I haven't done something purely standalone for some time. Will not go in my vignettes because it doesn't really contain brother interactions or musings. It's just the thoughts of a writer…
Glue
They all had their roles in the family.
Actually, when you really thought about it, they were like a collage.
Alfred was the cardboard backing board, supportive and strong, never really seen but there all the same.
Bruce was the backing paper, the one which the others rested on, that in a way was true, he made his presence known, unlike the backing board, and he was the first visible basis of the family's influence.
Damian was the most recent addition to the piece of art. His colour was still a pastel, trying to figure out exactly what he was going to be.
Steph's was bright and slightly striped. A reminder of her dark past and her choice to live free.
Cassie's was muted, like her. But bits of tiny silver peeked out through the muted colours of her piece.
Tim's was not wrapping paper like the previous three; it was like him, a simple piece of newspaper. Bits and pieces from an investigative article that alluded to his position of having the greatest detective nature.
Barbara's was again wrapping paper. It was matrix-style green ones and zeros on a dark background. It represented her, the tragedy of loss was the dark background and the bright green was the fulfilment and light she found as the Oracle.
Jason was the piece that stood out from the others. At first glance he didn't belong, no one knew what he was doing there. At second, he rounded out the piece, giving contrast and interest to an otherwise pretty standard picture.
So where is Dick in all this you might ask?
Don't you see?
He's everywhere in this.
He's the glue that holds this picture, and thus family, together.
