Choice
ONSWeek Day 3
"Did you have a choice?"
Mikaela laughed. "What do you mean, 'did I have a choice'? Did I have a choice in what?"
"In becoming a vampire."
Mikaela sighed, mouth opening to reveal his fangs. He turned to Yuuichirou, who was also lying on his back, staring out into the night sky. Mikaela had found them a nice, secluded spot where he was sure no human or vampire would be able to find them. They were spending their time together relaxing under the warm summer breeze. "I didn't."
Yuuichirou frowned. "That's not really fair."
"Life's not fair, Yuu-chan."
"How can they just take your life away like that?"
Mikaela chuckled, catching his best friend's attention. "Well, they didn't take it away. I'm the queen's favorite, so I have a free pass to do basically whatever I want."
Yuuichirou made a confused face at the blond. "Doesn't that get old?"
"Well, Krul allowed me to take you away from danger because of the fact that we have the Seraph gene."
The dark haired boy frowned. Mikaela had explained to him about that particular gene, right before he promised to go and save Shinoa and the others. They'd gone a far enough distance where they were able to relax in peace. Mikaela's red eyes met Yuuichirou's green, and the vampire smiled sadly. "I really wish I could have stayed half-human just a bit longer, Yuu-chan."
"You needed blood, Mika. Who am I to reject my friend's wish?"
"I had a choice to stay the way I was, but I guess to keep you from crying, I decided to change completely."
Yuuichirou smiled and moved closer, folding himself into the protective hold of his best friend as sleep took him over.

I had to publish this at 8:15 in the morning because I have school and won't be able to upload this when I usually do (around noon). Also, can anyone else tell that this was the time period where we all found out that Mika's eyes had turned red? My beautiful vampire son ;n;
