Hello everyone! Sorry this is so sudden, but I saw 'Man On The Internet's cover of the 'The Hat In Time' OST 'Your Contract Has Expired', which is really good by the way, and I just had to do this.
So... technically a crossover with 'A Hat In Time' I guess, but I placed it here because it would be much more likely to actually be seen here.
Also, if anyone wants to use this for a reaction fic, feel free to use it, just please PM me so I can read what you do with it :D
Thumbnail is part of CsLucaris' Ahegao series.
A small child with alabaster white skin jump onto a stone platform in the middle of a fogged up forest. She had bright red iris and pupils with black sclera, black veins throughout her body and hair as white as her skin tied up, as well as, strangely, a top hat.
In the middle of the stone platform was a pool of some sort of liquid, and just beyond the pool was a floating lantern, coloured gold and glowing blue. "Finally, I found the last one!" The small child said, before she ran around the pool.
As she neared the Relic of Wisdom, something stopped her. Scared, the child form of Salem turned around to see a smiling face.
A long snake like bod protruded out of the pool, made up of some kind of black and purple shadows. His entire body was the same mass of black shadow, except for his eyes, mouth and hair, all of which were glowing gold. His face was stuck in a permanent fanged smile, eyes wide and welcoming, golden hair revealing his identity before becoming this.
This… was the 'Snatcher'. A creature who made deals and ate the souls of those who cannot fulfil their end of the bargains. No one knew exactly what it was, how it came to be, but Salem knew… after all, she had a hand in its creation.
Jaune Arc, a man who would have once, long ago, been a hero. Now he was just another forgotten memory.
"Wait up, kid. Remember how the old contractor had his head pop off?" Jaune asked, his body towering over her child like frame. "That wasn't a coincidence. It popped off the moment he stopped being useful to me. And guess who else just became obsolete? That's right. You."
Salem took an unsteady step backwards as Jaune continued. "Now that that possessed outhouse isn't bothering me anymore, and all those contracts of yours are tidied away… I don't need you around. Besides, you didn't think I was going to let you keep all the Relics, did you? They fell in my forest, kid! They belong to ME." The Relic disappeared suddenly.
Jaune snatched Salem's top hat off and plopped it on his own head. "Time to see what I'm really capable of, kid. Say goodbye to that little head of yours!"
Purple flames erupted around the stone platform, stopping Salem from escaping. Around the arena, similar creatures to Jaune, but they were tiny even to Salem and were bird like, and cheered their master on.
Salem pulled out her sword and struck Jaune, which did nothing. "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!" He laughed at the top of his non-existent lungs. "FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!"
Suddenly, Jaune began singing.
"~Run along this forest trail~
~Now you'll find you'll fail~
~Never gonna reach that goal~
~Now give me your Soul~
~Some advice!~
~Don't think twice!~
~Should have known I wasn't nice~"
Salem ran to the side as Jaune leaned forward and held both arms up, shooting forward a psychic beam, which made contact with the ground, causing a giant plume of multi-coloured fire to erupt.
"~Off with your head~
~Tata, your dead~
~Got no more use for you~"
Jaune put both arms to the ground, and the other creatures teleported to him, where he guided them like children around the platform by twisting his body, hoping to trample Salem. But she was quick, and was able to jump over each wave of creatures.
"~And when you signed~
~That dotted line~
~You should have thought it through~"
Jaune stopped and smiled towards her. "You're probably waiting for me to turn blue, aren't you?" Jaune asked, since in his little pocket world, things other than Salem can only be harmed once they turn blue. "Sorry kiddo, blue doesn't suit me. And I guess that makes me invincible, huh? That's too bad! HA HA HA HA HA HA!"
"~Your subconscious hanging on,
Clinging to your fear~
~Every haunt just moved along,
But now the Snatcher's here!~"
A bunch of blue bottles appeared above Jaune, and began to fire themselves at Salem at a rapid pace. But the millennia old child (not by choice) was able to predict their trajectory and dodge each and every single one. Each one creating an explosion of blue whenever it hit.
"~And the weird and the wild~
~Should have left you all beguiled~
~Guess that's that~
~You hat wearing child~
~Did my jobs and took time to bask~
~Now it's time to take you to task!~
Jaune hummed. "Not enough? Let's try 1000!" As he said that, exactly 1000 blue bottle appeared before they all flung themselves towards her like a Gatling gun.
"~And while the ink is slowly drying~
~It's time that you get dying!~
~Your Contract Has Expired~
~Sleep now in the fire!~
~You're gonna meet your match~
~Your Soul belongs to Snatcher!~
~Now let's sing higher!~"
After Salem dodged all the bottles, Jaune playfully scratched his head. "Let's try just one this time." A single bottom appeared and Salem easily dodged it. But the bottle stopped mid-air before it exploded. "WAIT! That one totally should have hit you! Give it a chance!" The bottle floated above Salem, and no matter where she moved it always stayed there. Luckily, when it dropped it stopped tracking her, and so it missed as she dodged.
Jaune watched it explode before looking over at the readied Salem. "You're kinda rude, aren't you?" So Jaune tried to trample her again with his minions.
"~And the weird and the wild~
~Should have left you all beguiled~
~Guess that's that~
~You hat wearing child~
~Did my jobs and took time to bask~
~Now it's time to take you to task!~"
Jaune tried to hit her with the multi-coloured flame plumes again, before he suddenly disappeared.
Salem was shocked when hundreds of other versions of her appeared, each the same shadow as Jaune the Snatcher. "This is how you look! You're an idiot! And you smell!" Each one insulted before they disappeared and Jaune emerged from the pool, smile ever present. The thousand bottle appeared over his head once again.
"~And while the ink is slowly drying~
~It's time that you get dying!~
~Your Contract Has Expired~
~Sleep now in the fire!~
~You're gonna meet your match~
~Your Soul belongs to Snatcher!~
~Your service is no longer required!~"
Salem noticed that one of the bottles hadn't been thrown hard enough to explode, and picked it up. Jaune's eyes widened before she threw it on him. It exploded and covered him in a blue goop. Suddenly, the music and the attacks stopped. He looked down at Salem. "Did you just colour me blue with my own attack? This can't count, right? Surely this doesn't count? That does it, time to DIE."
Jaune calmed himself down before he continued singing.
"Listen, while I have a break. I just want to say, I don't think you're appreciating the fact that I'm singing and fighting at the same time here. Just needed to get that off of my chest."
The world went black for Salem, and she saw Jaune's face appear, and for him to wink at her with his right eye, the one on her left. That was when two different Jaunes appeared and tried to attack her from both sides. Salem panicked and attacked the one on her right, only for the cardboard cut-out of Jaune to fall to the floor and for him to hit her and knock her to the ground.
"~Some advice~
~Don't think twice~
~Should have known I wasn't nice~
~And when you signed~
~That dotted line~
~You should have thought it through~"
Jaune created multiple rings on the ground which moved in circles around him, intermittently throwing up more pillars of fire. After that, Jaune disappeared and popped out of the ground, shaking the entire arena and throwing Salem off balance, before he disappeared and did it again. Each time, sending a devastating wave of energy which Salem had to dodge.
It was actually quite hard for her, especially in this child's body, having to be in the air when Jaune popped up and then also be in the air long enough to dodge the slow moving waves. But, afterwards, Salem was rewarded for her troubles.
Jaune appeared near her, and didn't retreat in time, allowing her to slice him with her sword. He growled and went back to his pool.
"~If you think~
~That I'm a stink~
~Then get a lawyer!~
~'Cause I'm the best employer!~
~Got complaints? You got a form?~
~Let's review how you perform!~"
Jaune growled more and held his arms out, covering the entire arena with the rings, causing it all go up in flames. Salem screamed as it burned through her and she was left dazed and in pain. Because of this, she wasn't able to dodge his follow up flame pillar, nearly killing her. She knew that just one more attack like that and she would die, he would get the Relics, and she would be just another soul for him to devour.
"~Your subconscious hanging on,
Clinging to your fear~
~Every haunt just moved along,
But now the Snatcher's here!~"
The world went black again and this time Jaune's left eye winked, the one to Salem's right. She knew his tricks and attack the one to her right, hitting Jaune and sending him back to his pool.
"~And the weird and the wild~
~Should have left you all beguiled~
~Guess that's that~
~You hat wearing child~
~Did my jobs and took time to bask~
~Now it's time to take you to task!~"
Jaune went with another intermittent flame pillar ring which circled around him.
"~And while the ink is slowly drying~
~It's time that you get dying!~
~Your Contract Has Expired~
~Sleep now in the fire!~
~You're gonna meet your match~
~Your Soul belongs to Snatcher!~
~Your service is no longer required!~"
Jaune once again made the world black and winked before going to attack her. But Salem already knew this trick and slashed him one final time.
The world went black again, but stayed it this time around. In the distance, Salem could see Jaune, his gold now bright red, and he seemed to be in immense pain. As she walked closer, she could hear him huffing. "You're such a disrespectful young lady… I feel… so weak… Please… have mercy… Please… HAVE A SEAT!"
Suddenly a giant version of him appeared in front of her and a wooden bench erupted from underneath her. Salem got comfortable as Jaune appeared normal in front of her again. "All the Relics landed in MY forest. They are MY property."
With a poof of magic, a scroll and a pen for in front of her. "So, let's make a deal, young lady. You get out of my forest, and we never see you again. How's that sound for a deal?" He asked menacingly.
Salem glared up at him. "Not a fan? Too bad! You don't make the calls here. Here, I'll even make it easier for you!" With that, Jaune slapped on the 'completed' symbol onto the bottom next to the dotted line.
"Now all that's left is for you to sign it!" Jaune insisted.
Salem looked onto the contract and scrutinized it. It had two goals. 'Get out' and 'just get out'. All that was said was 'please take all your junk and leave'. Alongside this were two pictures of an angry Jaune with a sign that said 'get out'. It also told her which parts of the forest she could explore, 'none of it'.
Salem saw nothing wrong with it, and began to put her name down, but paused. She was going to have a bit of fun.
She lifted the pen to the top and scratched out the 'get out's and instead put 'stay and have fun' alongside a 'be nice' and some stars. She scratched out the 'none of it' and put 'all of it'. As well as drawing smiling faces on Jaune's pictures and the word 'stay' over the signs he held. The 'please take all your junk and leave' was turned into 'please be my BFF' with a little heart.
Jaune just stared at her with a blank face as Salem looked smugly up at him before putting down her full name and a picture of her smiling and giving a thumbs up. "… You understand that's not how contracts work, right?" He actually sounded upset at this.
"I'm giving you a chance to scram, kid! There's no catches or clauses this time!" Salem just looked smugly up at him. He had a bright idea. "What if I give you your Soul back, will that make you leave?"
A purple orb fell from the sky and entered Salem. She looked down at herself, but then looked back up at Jaune and kept silent, just staring at him. "Yes? No? Hello? Are you there? Why aren't you saying anything?"
After a minute, Jaune went from his scared persona to his normal one, menacing and evil. "… You're quite the character, aren't you. And a tough negotiator. Fine, I'll sweeten the deal for you."
The Relic of Wisdom appeared in front of Salem, who smiled upon seeing it. With all four, she could return to her normal body… yay. "Here, take my last Relic. If I continue to see you around my forest after this, I'll be very disappointed!"
Salem giddily ran up to the Relic and picked it up, feeling its power course through her and it surrounded her in a rainbow field before she closed her eyes.
When she opened them, she found herself home once more. She saw the other three Relics sitting there in front of her. "Hmmm…" She hummed to herself. "Well, I have the means… but do I have to become an adult again right away? I mean, this is actually kind of fun!" Salem skipped around the room. "I wonder what kind of pranks I could pull on Oz with this body?"
Her smile turned vicious and malicious and other words with a similar meaning. "Yes… I think I'll do just that! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAH!" Salem laughed out loud childishly. "He will never see it coming!"
