Hello there! So this idea just kinda popped into my mind- Tara's thoughts before getting back together with Willow in 6x17, Entropy. Enjoy!

Making Up Is The Best Part

It was time.

Whether it was because she couldn't resist being away any longer or because things really had changed, didn't matter to her- Tara Maclay had decided it was time.

As she walked through the brisk night air, she could feel her heart pounding in her chest. Her skin was tingling in anticipation, and nerves wracked her stomach, making it do crazy flip-flops. She was especially twitchy tonight, as her legs stiffly and awkwardly carried her across the road, out of the city, and into the suburbs that were unincorporated Sunnydale; a shiver raced up her back and into her neck, making the hairs stand on end.

Once the Rovello Drive street sign was in view, Tara had to stop for a second. Things were still crazy and it hadn't actually been that long since they'd broken up, but goddess, that afternoon, everything had changed for Tara. Willow was magic free for-what was it?- two months now, and she'd looked so cute in that hallway, rambling like she usually did when talking to a pretty girl. Actually, she only made those cute little rambling stutters around Tara, and Tara knew they were for her only. Her eyes had been glistening, and all Tara could think about was how beautiful the girl looked in the basking glow of the afternoon sun. She was the old Willow again, not the angry, addicted Willow she'd been lately.

Tara's heart skipped a beat when she thought about their "date" at the café. They had agreed it was just coffee; just two friends, without any other friends (as they had stuttered and flustered about having no friends in said hallway), getting coffee together. Tara remembered the flock of butterflies that had built in her stomach as she waited at the Espresso Pump for Willow; and when she'd seen the red-headed beauty walking across the street, those butterflies had exploded into her chest, and out her mouth, leaving all nervousness behind.

Everything about that day had been perfect- class, seeing Willow after class, having a nice afternoon lunch, then coffee with Willow- Tara had decided that the night needed to end perfectly as well. And it hadn't been a hard decision to make- no, the second after she had hugged Willow and watched her walk off -a rather painful sight- she'd known it was time.

Tara paced just outside the Summers's residence, going over the speech in her mind; she couldn't help but feel jittery. She was wearing her smooth leather jacket, with her hair pulled back. Tara was never really one to let her face show, but ever since she'd met Willow, she found herself opening up more and more. It was a subconscious leveled decision that she hoped Willow would pick up on, pulling her hair back and all. Tara stopped her pacing, and drew in a deep breath; she knocked on the door and waited an agonizing 23 seconds before Buffy came to the door. Tara beamed a smile.

"I-is Willow there?"
