Summary: Dave finally dances with Kurt.

Dancing

"Dance with me."

Kurt froze at the request. It sounded more like a demand than anything else, though. Just why the hell would David of all people come up to him, at a school dance, and order him to dance with him? The teen had to be up to something.

"No," Kurt replied shortly, turning his back on him. But a hand shot out and stopped him.

"Dance with me," David demanded again.

"Why should I?" Kurt snapped. "You're just going to embarrass me or humiliate me in front of the whole school, so just leave me alone."

Kurt swore he saw a hurt expression cross David's face, but it was gone too quickly for him to make sure.

"I'm not going to embarrass you. I just want you to dance with me," David said, losing his patience.

Kurt knew he shouldn't do it, but what choice did he have?

"Fine," Kurt grumbled, holding his head high as he went back toward the teen. "But only one dance…near the closest exit."

Now, Kurt thought David actually looked pleased, but he wasn't sure why. And the teen looked way too eager.

Before he knew it, David had him in near the back door and they were dancing—much to Kurt's horror—to a slow song. That meant closer contact. Closer contact to David Karofsky!

Kurt couldn't hold back the blush that appeared when David pulled even closer to his body. Attempting to make things…normal between them—like anything between them was ever normal—he cleared his throat. "So why did you want to dance with me?"

David looked down at the teen in his arms, seeming to contemplate Kurt's words. "I wanted to hold you."

Kurt's jaw dropped. Well, that was blunt! "And just what is that supposed to mean?"

"It means," David began as he started leading Kurt outside the door, "that I…"

"You what?"

They were finally outside now, away from everyone.

"I like you, okay?" David retorted. "I…like you."

Kurt felt his insides turn to mush.

"Aren't you going to say anything?"

Perhaps he hadn't responded as quickly as David would have liked, because he was looking at him very strangely right now.

"What do you want me to say?" Kurt asked, hoping to get a little more out of the teen.

David's eyes widened. "I was hoping…never mind," he said, turning away from him.

However, Kurt stopped him this time.

"I…kind of like you, too."

Stopping in his tracks, David spun on his heel to look incredulously at the teen. "What?"

"I said…I like you, too," repeated Kurt uneasily. He started fidgeting with his well manicured hands when David failed to respond.

And before he knew it he was in David's arms again.

"Go out with me," he demanded.

Kurt narrowed his eyes. "If you think I'm going to listen to you barking orders at me, you have another thing coming."

David smirked. "Fine. Will you go out with me?"

"That's better," Kurt smiled, taking David's hand and urging him to walk with him.

"You didn't answer my question, Fancy."

Kurt bristled at the nickname, but somehow he knew David didn't mean for it to hurt him. Now that he thought about it…it sounded like a cute pet name. He could get used to that.

"You didn't say 'please,' David."

And with that, Kurt ran off laughing, a sputtering David hot on his tail. Kurt figured that this was going to be the experience of a lifetime and he couldn't wait for it to start.
