AN: Just so you know this is a one shot that, I know this sounds corny, was a dream of mine. I hoppe that you all like it! ~The Orb
It all started when Arthur was fired. When they threw him out, the agency split in two. Those for Arthur and those against him. I was on Arthur's side. Auggie, who didn't like Arthur's administration, was against him. We fought over this, but there was no prevail. Our friendship was strained.
Eventually, I quit. All those that were on Arthur's side did. Once we were gone, the new director, Mark Brynman, ran for president and won. He took complete control of the nation, made it a dictatorship. The world was falling to ruin. Those of us who had supported Arthur fought back, creating a resistance movement. This is the story of the fateful day when I decided to take a joyride down town.
I zoomed down main street, trying to attract attention from the officers of the law. I looked to my right, and saw a certain old friend of mine. I rolled down the window.
"AUGGIE!" I yelled. He heard the sound of the car and grabbed his laser cane and ran ahead. He jumped past a fruit stand and slid over a car. I was too wrapped up in watching Auggie that I didn't notice the little park that was strait ahead of me. I looked ahead in time slam on the breaks, jump out of the smashed car, and run down the street to a small street salesman.
"Do you have any water?" I asked. I was about to pay for that and a nice necklace I saw when a hand came down hard on my shoulder.
"You're getting sloppy Annie." Auggie's voice said. I turned to look at him, His hair was disheveled as ever, and he looked like he should, like he just sprinted 10 blocks. "I can smell your perfume a mile away, the car has your purse in it, and I can remember your voice."
"I don't care." I said meekly. "I don't care at all."
"What?" He said surprised. He probably expected me to run or knee him in the groin or something.
"I don't care anymore. This life is so hard Auggie. I fought for what I believed in, but I didn't know it would be like this." I exclaimed. "My family's in danger every moment I'm with them, I have no personal life, and I lost my best friend, all because of some stupid CIA battle."
"Annie, Annie, stop!" He said softly. He didn't see that there were tears in my eyes, but I could see the tears in his. "Don't give in to this shit. Don't sell out."
"You're one to talk." I said with a small laugh. He started smiling.
"True enough." He said. He walked off toward the remains of my car. I walked home alone, thinking about what had made me crack today. I realized, it was remembering that I had to hate my best friend.
~The next day~
I woke up to the sound of my cell playing the ringtone I assigned to Auggie, and I thought I might just ignore it. I mean, he could be tracking my phone. I decided to answer it, because I missed him.
"Hello?" I asked into the phone.
"Annie, open the door." He said. I walked over and opened it. He was standing there, just standing. "Annie, do you think you have an extra spot on that rebellion of yours for a blind idiot that is totally in love with you?"
I leaned in and kissed him softly.
"I think that can be arranged."
