'We always fall in love with people we can't have.'

That was the last line of the book that I had just returned to the library. It just relates so much to me, you know? I mean, I love this guy who happens to be loved by all other girls of the school, who don't love his best friend Sirius Black. He can be a nightmare sometimes, but he is my nightmare. If he's a bad dream, only should have him. If he's something good, I'll be selfish to not share.

After all, James Potter is mine. The other girls might not know, but he will. Soon enough.

I pick another book and walk to the tables when I hear someone laugh. More like moan. And then there's the kissing sounds. I went by to peep through and saw him there. He's kissing another girl. In a place that he knew I'll always be.

Cue the tears.

Drop the book. Run.

"Lily. Lily wait. Lily come on! Wait up!" He's running after me. I can't outrun him for sure, and so he catches me before I have a chance to hide. "Lily, what's wrong? Hey, you're crying? Who was it?" YOU DAMN IT! YOU! I LOVE YOU JAMES STUPID POTTER! I DO! SO MUCH! AND YOU END UP KISSING ANOTHER GIRL WHEN YOU SHOULD BE WITH ME! I wanted to scream at him. But how can I scream while looking into those eyes?

"Nothing. I'm fine." I break the grip he has on my hand, and go to my dorm.

JAMES POV

"You know how you really like a girl, but you know that you'll have to settle for others just because you can't have her? That's how I feel right now, Remus. I really love Lily, and I've tried telling her too. She just won't say yes! So now, I'll have to be content to being her friend, even if I can't have her, just so that I'd get to see her everyday, talking and laughing, with me?"

Wow. So much of weight lifted right off.

"I'm telling you this because Sirius is just going to start teasing and diverting me away, and that Peter's no good. Please tell me what to do."

"Tell her mate. I know you have already done that, but this time make it mean something. All this time it was more like running behind her. But this time you show her that you would run along with her. She'll say yes mate. Besides I think I heard her friend say she's been crushing on you but is just too proud to admit it." So much for her pride. I can put up with that.

"Thanks mate. I'll be right back."

LILY POV

I've waited long enough for him to tell me. Now I'll tell him myself.

I open the door to find a very excited and tired James Potter standing in front of me. "Hey James, I-" He kisses me. And then I just close the door and pull him in. "Be my girlfriend?" he asks.

"Yes"

Well, James Potter is mine.
