Good As Gone

[I don't own Percy Jackson and The Olympians]

Dedicated to all those who lost ten years ago.

"Heather!" His voice high and nervous. He shoved people out of his way as he dashed around the buildings. "Heather!" He yelled.

His golden eyes were faded, dark. They searched the crowds of survivors hoping she was among them. "Heather!" He managed weakly. "Father, give me a sign." He pleaded, falling to his knees.

The image appeared in his head. The flames, the smoke, the blood; there was so much blood. "No!" He swallowed hollowly, shutting his eyes tightly. "No, Heather!" He shrieked, running hysterically over to the ambulances.

He watched as they pulled her body from the rubble. His throat was swollen, he couldn't breathe. He ran to her, snatching her from the filthy humans. "Heather…" He stroked her face gently. She remained lifeless in his arms. "Heather!" His voice cracked as he pulled her tightly to his chest and tears dripped from his eyes.

"I'm sorry." He whispered. "I'm so sorry!"

He slumped into his throne sullenly. "Why?" He wondered suddenly. "We control this world; everything about it! Why did she have to leave me?" He whispered.

He felt a heavy hand on his shoulder and looked up to see his sister standing behind him solemnly. "We can't control fate, Apollo."

The Sun god set his face in his hands, "I know." He murmured. "I know."

"There's someone waiting for you down there."

Apollo frowned. "Earth, you mean?"

But Artemis was gone.

Closed his eyes; crying. He heard crying…

He gasped and in a blinding flash disappeared to Central Hospital. He stood in front of the window, deadpanned.

An old woman who stood next to him tapped his shoulder. "Which one is yours?"

He pointed at the baby with eyes who seemed to shine brighter than the others. "That one."

He appeared next to the cradle. "Ascelpius." He decided, brushing his fingers over the newborn's forehead. "Your mother would be proud to call her yours."

9-11-01

Tragic day for everyone, rest in peace to all who didn't make it that day.

The point of this story, Apollo had an affair with a woman named Heather whom he loved. However, she died in the 9/11 terrorist attack, but not before giving birth to their son whom Apollo thought had also died in the attack. And even though Heather was gone, he still had a piece of her in Ascelpius (their son).

Thank you to all who read.
