If I had any chance of survival, I had to do it. I had to jump. They had me surrounded, the four of them, asleep on the ground armed with traps. I couldn't get down, one would hear me. Even if they didn't, one of the traps would catch me. I had to jump.
I slowly walked along the sturdiest-looking branch, holding my breath. It was starting to sag, so I ran as far as I dared then leapt to the next tree. For the first time in these games, I was glad that I was small, swift and light-footed. I landed silently on the next branch, stomach down. I did the same for the next few trees, to put the careers off my scent, so they hopefully wouldn't find any footprints. After about five trees, I slivered down to the ground. A pain shot through my stomach...
Author note: please review, it would mean so much. I have more written that I hopefully will publish if anyone reviews. Constructive criticism is always welcome. Thank you for your time,
