Hey guys! Long time no see… (yes I know that's my fault) I want to thank you SO MUCH for all the reviews on Different Boxes, it really got to me because that was my first fanfic ever! Unfortunately, I have decided to end the story there though- it just kind of seemed like the ends were tied up pretty nicely! So to say thank you for all the positive feedback- here's my newest addition to the Nick and Jess saga! Enjoy and review if you get a chance :)
"And the entire bar just went 'oooohhhhh'…"
They stumbled into the loft, laughing hysterically. Nick, slightly more sober, steered Jess into the direction of her room.
"I hadn't seen her in foreverrrr!" Jess sang out the word. "Would have been nice if she hadn't spilled her drink all over me though." She scrunched up her nose, pulling at the wet fabric of her bright fuchsia dress.
Nick patted her on the back, and opened her door for her.
"Well, this is where we part ways Ms. Day." He tipped an imaginary cap at her. "A good evenin' to ya m'lady." Wow, he really was drunk.
She smiled, glassy-eyed, at him, and swayed a little bit in her doorway…
And then proceeded to flop on to her bed, bringing Nick down with her as she had clung onto him for support.
She made a "pffffft" sound at that, sending them both in a fit of alcohol induced laughter that went on for awhile. Then it slowly died down, as they both realized he was still on top of her.
His body went rigid for a second, then he rolled off of her, and settled into her comforter. It smelled like cupcakes, which he didn't really see how was possible.
Exhausted, Nick breathed in the scent. His eyes began to droop, as he watched Jess do the same, with a smile on her face. He was almost asleep when.. wack. He squinted his eyes open. Jess had wacked him in the face and was watching him, on the verge of a giggle.
Too tired to retaliate fully, he picked up his arm, and slowly put his hand on her face. She laughed, and patted his nose awkwardly. He mimicked her, and let out a low chuckle, that died off suddenly when he made eye contact with her.
Holy shit. Had her eyes always been so blue? Who was he kidding… yes, yes they always had been- he had just never looked at them so close before. They were like some kind of neon brightness that he was pretty sure couldn't be found in a giant crayon box. As he continued to ponder this, her smile faded, and she closed her eyes, breaking him from the trance.
"Goodnight Nicholas." She murmured, her eyelids fluttering, and her face settling into a calm that literally hurt his heart a little.
That was the last thought that entered his mind before he too settled into a deep sleep.
TO BE CONTINUED... Thank you, thank you for reading :) Review if you think I'm going somewhere with this cause I'm not so sure myself...
