"Envy?" Ed said shakily.
"I'm sorry Edo," Envy replied with an ice cold look in his eyes.
"Why? Envy, what's wrong?"
"I'm leaving."
Ed was stunned by Envy's reply, tears forming in his eyes, "What do you mean you're leaving? Are you coming back?" Ed asked even though he already knew the answer.
Envy shook his head and began walking away.
"Envy? Envy, wait! I'm sorry! Don't go, don't leave me, please! Envy!" Ed screamed as Envy disappeared into the darkness.
Ed's eyes shot open as he sat up. He held his chest as he tried to catch his breathe, realizing it was only a nightmare. He reached over to where Envy was supposed to be sleeping next to him but found the spot vacant. Ed slowly got out of bed, terrified that his nightmare had been real. He walked down the hallway into the lounge and found his lover staring out the window in deep thought.
"En-"Ed stopped when he saw the expression on Envy's face. He had something similar to the cold eyes in his dream but interlaced with confusion. Ed slowly backed out of the lounge and headed back to bed.
"Edo?" he heard Envy call. He poked his head around the doorway and looked at Envy. The cold gone from his eyes completely.
"What's wrong?" Envy asked, concerned, "you ok?"
Ed nodded and flashed Envy a fake smile before turning and heading back to the room. He got into bed and wiped his, now red, eyes, trying to calm himself down. He froze when he heard Envy come in.
"Edo-chibi?"
Ed ignored him, pretending to be asleep.
"Edo, what's wrong?"
When there was no reply Envy got into bed with Ed and pulled him close. The tears, Ed had been trying so hard to hold back, streamed down his cheek as he clutched Envy's shirt.
"Edo," Envy said softly, rubbing soothing circles on Ed's back, "what's wrong?"
Ed shook his head in Envy's chest. The green-haired man couldn't take it anymore; he lifted Ed's head and brought his lips to his. Ed leaned into the kiss, not wanting Envy to stop, not wanting him to leave. Envy chuckled as he pulled back, bringing his hand up to Ed's cheek, wiping away the tears.
"Feisty today, ain't we chibi," Envy said laughing softly. Ed smiled and took a deep breathe.
"I had a nightmare and you were there but you said you were leaving me, then I woke up and you weren't here. I just got a fright, that's all.
Envy laughed out loud, "Wow, Edo. Letting dreams scare you, I thought you were past that stage."
Ed pouted, "It's not funny, you palm tree!"
Envy continued laughing until Ed poked him hard in the stomach.
"Ow, shrimp. Ok, ok, I'm sorry I left the room," Envy said as he kissed Ed's forehead, "I couldn't sleep and I didn't wanna wake you."
Ed snuggled closer to Envy and kissed his chest as he settled down. He failed to see the cold expression on Envy's face. The expression he dreaded, even in his sleep.
