Sam wants a miracle.
He's afraid to think it—to admit it's that hopeless. He's afraid he might have had just one miracle where Deans concerned, already used up earlier this year. Surely there was a reason Dean came back, beyond a few extra pain-filled months?
Dean hasn't moved since the accident, and Sam grows desperate the longer that goes on. He'd do anything to bring his brother back, anything.
Still, he's shocked when Dean actually wakes up.
When they lose Dad hours later, Sam turns guilt-stricken-cold.
He'd still give that 'anything' again… God help him, he knows he would.
