The Irrational Desire
You came into my life one day,
And at that time I did not know,
That I could ever feel this way;
Please, never let me go.
...
If someone had told me then,
That over time you'd consume my thoughts,
It would've been hard for me to comprehend,
But now, without you, I'd be lost.
...
I know not what I am to you,
For our relationship is not defined,
And it kills me inside for this is true:
You're always on my mind.
...
At times our gazes meet,
And there are so many things that are left unsaid.
I know I feel a burning heat,
Tell me; is all of this just in my head?
...
In a sense, I guess it should be.
For you and I – we can't be more.
However, that doesn't stop these feelings,
Which chill me to my very core.
...
So, here I'll give my parting note.
Wanting someone you can't have brings pain;
But, if you could, would it work?
Or are all of your efforts simply in vain?
