"…Hmm…"

I sighed as my search failed to provide information. I glanced back at the little box next to my computer, frowning slightly. At first glance, it looked like a video game box that held a DS game inside, but something about it seemed weird. I even tried to look up information about the game, but nothing turned up.

It's almost as if this game is a fake…

I picked up the box, looking over it several times. The box art looked official, oddly enough. On the front, it showed Kirby in a battle stance in front of a shaded enemy. On the back, it had odd blurbs about the game.

'A new enemy has risen up in Dreamland, and Kirby needs your help! As an ally, you and many others can join in on the adventure. Courage is not enough; you must hone your abilities and become powerful on your journey. Be careful; you are Dreamland's last hope!'

I blinked.

Well, that sounds genuine, I guess…

I looked at the front of the box again to read the game's title.

'Kirby: Call to Arms'.

It was a weird title, but the game sounded really interesting…

I removed the plastic wrapping from the box and carefully opened it; I had no intention of ruining the box…

Pulling out the game, I picked up my DS and placed the game cartridge inside. Once the cartridge was secure, I turned on the system and selected the game icon. I waited patiently as the game started up…

"In a galaxy far, far away, there is a planet known as 'Popstar'. It is a peaceful planet, as the inhabitants are pretty mellow. There were several incidents in the past, however, and Popstar was nearly destroyed. Fortunately, one brave inhabitant of Popstar stood up to the many evils and triumphed over them. He became a Hero, and everyone was grateful for his selfless deeds.

…He is known as Kirby. Despite being a pink puffball with seemingly no fighting ability, his appearance is quite deceiving. Enemies have often underestimated this Hero's abilities and met their end in doing so.

Unfortunately, a greater evil has taken hold of the planet Popstar. The Light is gone; now only Darkness remains. Kirby may be a Hero, but even heroes need assistance. Now it is up to you and many others to assist Kirby in defeating the enemy that threatens this wonderful planet.

…Embrace your Destiny!"

I stared in awe at the introduction; it seemed so realistic! It took me a moment to realize that there was a command on the top screen of the DS.

-Press and hold an index finger against the bottom screen-

Without thinking, I pressed one of my index fingers against the screen and held it there. After a few seconds, the message on the top screen changed:

-Personality Acquired. Embrace your Destiny, Matt-

This startled me.

"Wait, how did my name…?"

The bottom screen began to glow, and before I could do anything else, there was an explosion of light…

Note: This will be an adventure story, and I will be recruiting readers at the end of the next chapter. For now, though, everything will remain a mystery.
