Author's Note. This is a first. I started it late one night after watching Romeo and Juliet. And I thought to myself, "Now wouldn't that be funny if I did generally the same thing, but with Harry Potter characters?" The answer was no, but here it is. Reviews loved. Oh. And no Second Chapter before...erm, five reviews. Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I obviously don't own any of the canon characters, but Salina is mine. So, gr. Thanks to JK Rowling for making Ron so attractive.

Chapter 1.

Divination and Distaste

"Open you inner eye to clearly see the future!"

Professor Trewlany warble on as her students leisurely sipped at their tea. The assignment had been to read the tea leaves left at the bottom of the cup, but it was taking some people a bit longer to reach that point.

"Wooly," Hermione Granger muttered from a table in the far left. She sat with harry Potter and Ron Weasley, her two best mates, trying to make some sense out of the muddy shapes in the bottom of her cup. It appeared to be a spear and a shooting star. (A shooting star only because a few smaller dots trailed the larger blob.) Neither of the boys replied, not wanting to draw the professor's attention to their corner of the room.

On the far right side of the room sat a Slytherin trio: Draco Malfoy, Pansy Parkinson, and Salina Cullen. At the beginning of class, Salina had deviously placed herself between Draco and Pansy, simply to irritate the other girl. Draco, at the moment, was sitting with his back to Pansy (much to her chagrin) and making eyes at Salina over the rim of his cup. Salina winked in return to a lazy arch of his eyebrows. She finished off the last of her tea and examined the leftovers.

'Strainers were invented for a reason,' she mused.

Draco had also finished his tea and was staring into the depths of the fine chinaware. All the while, Pansy was pestering him about the shapes forming in the bottom of her own cup. Draco cut her off and asked Salina, "What does this big blob look like to you, Cullen?" He leaned closer to her.

She pretended to ponder over the remnants of the boy's tea. "Well," she began slowly, glancing up to smirk at pansy's pout, "I can't be very sure. It seems to be a very big sun, which could mean you can expect some very happy times in the near future."

"Happy times indeed," he murmured as Professor Trewlany returned to the front of the classroom.
"I hope you all had successful readings," she began. Now I would like to give you the pairings for this term's group project!" Groans and protests erupted, but the professor let them pass as if she had been expecting them and knew she would have no luck in quieting the rowdy teenagers. When they finally settled, she began reciting the list. Most students were paired within their own houses. Draco had been paired with one of his cronies, Goyle, and Pansy would be working with a girl whose name Salina did not know. She had yet to hear her own name.

In the left corner of the room, Hermione was already chattering away about she and Harry should split the responsibilities of the project. Ron cast his best friend a sympathetic gaze as he waited to
hear his name.

"Cullen and Weasley." Professor Trewlany looked up smiling. Salina and Ron."

Both of them looked up, expressions of sheer terror dawning on their faces. They gaped, open-mouthed, first at their professor then turned toward each other. The two locked eyes across the room and couldn't seem to look away. Terror quickly gave way to utter disgust as reality set in.
They would have to work together for the rest of the semester. This would involve seeing each other outside of class- possibly spending lunch together in the library.

Unacceptable.

Hermione, Harry, and Draco all seemed to think the same.
