The Game
It was fair; I had to give them that. As some brilliant man once said, "All is fair in love and war." That is exactly what it was, war, and it had been since the three of us had been in school together. Of course, the competition had existed even before then, but not in this concentrated form.
Since the first day that Emmett, Jasper, and I had attended the same teaching establishment, we had been attempting to get one another "in trouble" as children "our age" put it. We would pull juvenile pranks, frame each other, steal one another's possessions, and team up two against one, make the victim barter something in exchange for whatever we were holding against them, or try to get our enemy in trouble with the teacher. This was somewhat difficult, as teachers tended to think we were perfect. In their view, and because of their limited intelligence, I suppose we appeared that way. The blind eyes and deaf ears that many of the staff turned towards our family and our antics only made our quest that much more challenging, and did not dissuade us from our mission.
Over the course of the fifty or so years we had been forced to attend school, we had tried every possible thing to pull ahead at our little game. Now the score happened to be nearly tied because of a fabulous trick on Emmett's part. I, for one, happened to be getting a tad tired of our game, and perhaps my brothers were as well. Both Emmett and Jasper had been blocking their minds for the past few days, so they may have been planning to even up the score and call it quits. I had hoped to be pleasantly surprised by a new stunt. However, you really should be careful what you wish for.

As I stood by my locker during break, retrieving my books and final report for my next class, and listening to the vile thoughts of the teenagers surrounding me, I was ambushed. I hadn't even heard them coming, due to a particularly graphic fantasy Jessica Stanley had been entertaining at the time. I sighed and moved to close my locker, being careful not to damage the metal by using too much force. Instead, I found myself being slammed into the wall of metal, and then lying on the floor, my hands empty, with Jasper and Emmett standing over me. I hesitated before rising slowly, acting as though their assault had injured me. It was then that I realized that my final report, my handwritten English paper worth half of my grade was being held captive in their hands. Well isn't this exciting.
