"Next up is Caitlyn Geller." Brown said, moving side as tow people set a key board up on the stage. It was the Beach Jam and everyone was being required to perform something. Caitlyn's best friends, Connect 3, had finally managed to convince her to sing. What she didn't know was that they had something planned.
Caitlyn nervously walked onto the stage. She was dressed in a pair of white skinny jeans and a navy blue peasant top with a silver star sketch in the center. Her hair was left down in its natural waves. She had the silver heart shaped locket Shane had given her for her birthday on. It had sapphires lining the edges and a music note engraved in the center. She had silver star earrings in as well. She had Tess dress her because for the first time, she wasn't hiding behind her beats and everyone would be looking at her, not dancing to the beats she was producing. I can't believe I lit them talk me into this, she thought as she sat down at the keyboard. She took a deep breath and began to play.
"On my way, though I don't know where I'm going, on a road that's dark and long. On my way, but I'm fearful that I could be lost. That the path I have chosen might me wrong. When will it be clear that I've made the right choice? When can I be sure that I know my own voice? I dream of a day when I'm free from doubt, when fate wins out. And I overcome my fears…"
"Clear." A voice from the audience broke in. Caitlyn's eyes snapped open, she knew that voice all too well. Sure enough, He eyes met the eyes of Shane. As she stared at him, Nate moved her over and began playing the keyboard while Jason picked up the guitar and Bender began the drum beat.
"I don't know, I don't know where to search for answers in a world that is afraid." Shane started walking toward the stage.
"Will I find my strength and discover who I really am?" Caitlyn moved toward the edge of the stage.
"Or retreat and pretend that I don't care?"
"When will it be clear…"
"That I made the right choice."
"When can I be sure…"
"That I know my own voice"
"I dream of a day when I'm free from doubt, where fate wins out. And I overcome my fear, clear." Neither was surprised that their voices sounded good together.
"I've been told that we learn from our mistakes." Caitlyn moved closer to the edge of the stage.
"But I just don't know how many mistakes it takes." Shane jumped onto the stage.
"Oh, trying so hard to let down my guard. Maybe right now, right here." They met each other half way and Shane took her hands in his, his eyes looking deep into hers.
"Clear, that I made the right choice. Sure, that I know my own voice. I praise the day when I'm free from doubt, when fate wins out. And I overcome my fear. Clear." They finished and the crowd cheered, Nate and Jason smiled and exchanged a high-five, but they kept looking at each other.
Shane leaned forward and lightly brushed his lips over hers before pulling her off the stage. He led her over to the dock as the other campers began leaving.
"I love you, Cait." Shane said, pulling her close to him, hugging her tightly.
"I love you too, Shane." Caitlyn responded, returning the hug.
Shane pulled back with the biggest smile on his face. He kissed her lightly and hugged her tightly.
"So, anything you want to tell us?" Nate asked with a smile when the two got to campfire later that night, seeing their hands entwined and huge smiles on their faces.
"Shut up," Shane and Caitlyn replied in unison, causing them to laugh.
Caitlyn rested her head on Shane's shoulder, smiled. He rested his head on top of hers, a twin smile on his face.
Nate and Jason observed this and shared a smile. They had been successful with getting their two best friends together and were quite proud of themselves.
