It was dark out, but the stars shone brightly. Hogwarts Castle of Witchcraft and
Wizardry towered under the night sky and cast a shadow over the lake. A lone figure quietly shut the huge front doors with the wave of her wand. She climbed down the path leading toward the lake's bank. She sat on the rocky shore, and spread her schoolbooks out in a line. Now she could think and study in peace. She dragged her Charms book into her lap, and began to read, often glancing at the path, as if looking for something.

The boy stared out the window, down at the lake. Though the night was clear, he couldn't see anything. He shrugged, and put on his cloak. The window was already cracked some, just the tiniest bit. With a wave of his wand, the boy opened it the rest of the way, taking care not to wake his sleeping roommates. He climbed down; using the vine that threaded it's way down the side of the wall, as a rope. He was very experienced; this boy was, from sneaking out like this before. His feet touched the ground, and he began the slow walk to the lake. After a while, he sped up, then finally broke into a run. There were the gentle waves of the lake; it's rocky shore. Then, yes, there she was. Quietly studying, as always. But that's all right, he didn't mind the quite.

The boy silently sat down next to the girl. He gave her a sideways glance then turned his attention on the full moon. He stared at it for a while, though he was aware of the girl's eyes boring into him. The girl always went back to her books, always continued reading. She shivered suddenly, and the boy silently offered her his cloak. She accepted it great fully and then went back to her studies. They sat like this, the two of them, for twenty minutes, perhaps more, in utter silence. The girl stopped reading her book after a while, and marked her place with a piece of ribbon. She pulled off her socks and dipped her bare feet in the water. She turned and stared at the boy for a moment before she spoke.
" Hello Draco. What kept you?" the girl asked.
" Didn't want to wake up Crabbe and Goyle. You know they would have followed me. Sorry." the boy replied.
" That's alright. I'll wait all night if I must. Just wait and study."
" I know you will Hermione. I know you will."
With that, the two sat in silence once more, enemies during the day, friends at night.
