Careful
I was always careful.
Ever since that fateful night,
I was always on my guard.
My friends got the closest.
But I wouldn't let them in.
I couldn't let anyone in.
For there was a monster waiting inside.
One that I could not overcome,
And so it ruled me.
Loneliness was a way of life.
It was my greatest curse.
But now, I am freed.
I met her, one fateful night,
And my heart fought its greatest battle.
The monster would not win.
Now I can see what was always the truth.
Love triumphs over everything,
Even the demons within.
