Two of Him

What was she thinking? She loved Alex, not Wes. No, she definitely didn't love that rich, fun-loving, constantly sugar-high playboy who happened to be Alex's DNA double.

But the way he'd held her close and begged her to trust him…it all made for a very confused pink ranger. He'd wormed his way into her heart long ago, back when Contemptra had put Wes and the other boys under her love spell. Wes had almost kissed her that day, and Jen had wondered why the phone had rung and ruined everything.

That would have been a betrayal to Alex's memory, though. And Jen still loved Alex, or at least part of her did. But it was a small part, not all of her, not like she loved him the way she did when she arrived in the year 2001. Since then, Wes had grown on her with his cheerful demeanor and warm, caring ways.

Wes had something Alex didn't, and that something wasn't just the fact that Wes had a pulse. He'd thrown away everything he had ever known: the posh mansion in his ritzy neighborhood, the chauffer-driven limos, the billions of dollars at his disposal. And for what? To fight against Ransik and save the future. Jen couldn't think of anyone else who would put their life on the line like that, not when they'd been born into the world of privilege like Wes had.

She watched Wes sitting at the table, scribbling away in a notebook. He shut it after a moment, his usual lopsided grin adorning his features. He met her gaze and gave a slight nod in her direction. Jen found herself smiling back at the red ranger. No, Wes certainly wasn't like his stony double, but Alex wasn't anything like her Wes.
