Summary: When Leo leaves for South America and leaves an orange masked turtle behind.
Tonight was going to be hard for everyone. Leo got up from bed and started to pack, not trying to wake up his mate from his sleep. "Hmmm Leo, what are you doing? Its 2 in the morning." Mikey sat up in bed rubbing his eye. Leo set down some extra books he plan to read on the long trip. "Nothing Mikey, just go to bed." Mikey was fully awake now, He saw Leo start to pack books, extra ninja stars, and other stuff in a duffle bag. "Leo that's not nothing. What are you doing. Its like you're going somewhere. Are you leaving?" Mikey was a little sad, but knowing Leo he wont be gone long. "I'll tell you later Mike. With the rest of the family. Just go back to bed." Leo waked up to Mikey and gave him a quick kiss on the lips. Mikey nodded and laid his head on the pillow and drifted back to dreamland.
Everyone was gathered in the living room, all tried. "Why are we here? Its 4 in the morning!" Raph was not a happy camper when he is waken up before his alarm. "My son, calm down. After this you can go back to bed." Leo came out of his room with the duffle bag Mikey seen him pack. "My son are you ready?" Leo nodded and waked in front of his brothers. "As you all noticed, Master Splinter woke you up at 4 in the morning. The reason is….. I don't want to but I'm leaving for South America." Raph and Don were shocked. "South America? Why?" Donnie asked. "I'm leaving to train, to be a better leader for you all." Raph looked confused and hurt at the same time. "For how long?" Raph asked. "Just for a year, I will write to you to keep in touch. Like I said I don't want to be away from you guys but its for the best." Leo looked at Mikey who was crying. "You cant leave! You just cant leave like that Leo!" Leo dropped his bag and went to hug his distressed mate. "I know Love, I don't want to leave you. But its for the best. When I come back I'll be a better leader." Master Splinter smiled a sad smile. "Can, can I come?" Mikey hugged Leo tighter. "Mikey, I have to go alone. I really want you to come, but you cant, its going to b dangerous." After hearing the word dangerous Mikey panicked. "Dangerous! You cant go! You can get hurt, and, and we wont be there to protect you. We're supposed to protect each other Leo! You can go." Leo felt tears on his shoulder, he rubbed Mikes shell like their father will do when they were upset are sick. "If it makes you fell better Mike, I'll write you letters. Would that make you feel a little better?" Mikey nodded a bit. "My son you must leave soon, the boat will leave in 45 minutes. Mikey let go of Leo. Leo waked up to Raph and hugged him. "I put you and Donnie in charge on patrols. Please watch over Mikey for me. I love you Raph I always had." Raph hugged back. "Will do bro. Come back in one piece. I love you to" Leo laughed a bit. "Yea. I'll come back in one piece." They let go and Leo moved on to Don. "Keep doing what your doing. You and Raph are in charge. I love you don, don't forget that." Don smiled. "I love you to Leo, don't die out their in the jungle." Leo nodded and walked to this father. "Goodbye father." He hugged him. "Goodbye my son. Good luck out there." Finally Leo walked to his mate, his love. It hurt Leo seeing him cry. "Mikey, please don't cry. You know I hate it when you cry. I love you Mikey, and I will never stop loving you." Mikey had a death grip on Leo. "I love you too, I'll wait for you, I'll mark on the calendar, each and everyday." Leo smiled and kissed Mikey with so much love, Mikeys knees went weak. One last hug of each family member and Leo was out that door on the start of this training.
