Work. Work, work, work. That seemed like the center of Edgeworth's life. That is, until he realised how he felt for that spiky-haired defense attorney. And, thank the divine beings (Edgeworth had never believed in a single 'God'), Mr. Wright felt the same way. If he hadn't, each meeting would become increasingly awkward, increasingly strange. Yes, thank the divine beings for childhood ties.
Needless to say, Mr. Wright was that sparkle in Edgeworth's life, bright and strong and "I'll protect you". Peculiar words, those, for either man to say, but they were there. Undoubtedly.
And indeed, beneath that façade of ruthlessness and cunning was a young man, troubled and emotional. Something that Phoenix Wright was not. Yes, just like the evidence lists from the Goodman case, the two fit perfectly to form one. Wright showed him how to be human again. How to smile and laugh, after the nightmares of his past.
Hence, it was only natural that the high point of his day was when Phoenix pushed the door open, happy and oh-so-beautiful. Until he had fallen for him, Edgeworth had been consumed by his job, often staying overnight to research a case. Now it was different; only on urgent occasions would he do such a thing. And Wright would stay with him until Edgeworth insisted that he go home to get some sleep. Otherwise they would drive away in Edgeworth's red sports car, stopping for burgers or noodles on the way home.
Then the love-making. It was passionate, tender, sweet and there was no question that Phoenix was on top. Yes, Edgeworth needed him, loved him. As did Wright, he knew.
"Miles." He strode in, the cold office suddenly radiating with sudden warmth and vibrancy.
"Phoenix." Miles smiled back, channeling all his feelings. I love you, Wright.
Somehow, Phoenix could read his thoughts. Or he read that smile the way he was supposed to. "I love you too, Miles."
