Hamlet
The winds blew rough
That starless night
His eyes were glazed
With awe and fright
He saw the face
He dared not name
Thoughts whirled inside
His confused brain
His father stood
Whom death had taken
Hamlet pale
His beliefs were shaken
"Avenge my death" His father said
'Gainst the man that has your mother
Help me, Hamlet my son
Go now and kill my brother
Hamlet stood resigned
Steel set in his path
His murdering uncle
Would suffer his wrath
His gaiety ended
His laughter was gone
Revenge dominated him
All day and night long
Hamlet played the fool
And he played the fool well
He contemplated consequences
Heaven and Hell
His friends all betrayed him
His Ophelia passed away
No one but Horatio
With him would stay
Polonius fell victim
'Cause his treacherous lies
Hamlet took his body
And refused to say why
Laertes and Hamlet
Jousting as "friends"
A final harsh battle
In death it would end
A thrust and a dodge
"A pearl to your health"
The Queen took the goblet
And fell down herself
His mother fell dead
By the murderous lout
Hamlet looked on in horror
And gave out a shout
Hit from behind
A small scratch on the arm
The poison within
Would do the true harm
Laertes confesses
Hamlet runs to the King
Poison goblet in hand
He would finish the thing
The King falls down dead
Here the tragedy lies
For our hero Hamlet
Also will die
His pain was now ending
Calm, cresting, complete
A bittersweet victory
The perfect defeat
He spends his last moments
In the arms of a friend
Horatio closes his eyelids
And that is the end
The winds blew rough
That starless night
His eyes were glazed
With awe and fright
He saw the face
He dared not name
Thoughts whirled inside
