Victorian! England x fem! Canada
Point of View will be Madeline's. I'm sorry if you don't like it when its first person but I think it be best in this story. Also, her last name is Francis' last name as well as I see them as father and daughter relationship. I better stop talking before I ruin the story…
Chapter 1: A Savior
I walked home from the orphanage. I never rode in a carriage unless, under supremely difficult situations where I could not ride in anything else, I had to. My reason was very reasonable, that is how my aunt passed away. She was coming home from a friend's home out in the country, the horse was spooked, he panicked and the carriage crashed into a tree.
I sighed and adjusted my hood of my cloak to keep the light rain from getting my pale blonde hair wet. I heard someone, a man, whistle at me as I passed by an ally-way. It startled me only ever so slightly, what would someone be doing in an ally-way when it was clearly about ready to start raining?
"What's a pretty little lady like ya doin' all by yer little lonesome in this 'ere neighborhood? Ya do know it's very dangerous in the ev'ning, don't ya?" the man said, stepping out of the ally-way in front of me, he had a very lustful look in his eyes.
He was clearly lower class but the look in his eyes was scary. Regardless, I needed to get home. I already stayed out later than I planned.
"Excuse me, sir, but you are blocking my way." I said trying to get around him, "And if you would so kindly move. My family is expecting me. I am terribly late for tea."
He laughed, "Are ye? Well, yer just gonna have to a little later. Why don't ya take some tea with me?"
"I rather not, Mother gets very worried when I'm out so late." I lied plainly; he didn't know who I was so he wouldn't know that I had no mother.
Anger flashed in his eyes as I walked past him quickly. He tried to grab me by my waist but I started to run as fast as I could. I tripped over the lip of the cobblestone sidewalk, landing hard. My book fell in a muddy puddle. No! Not my only memories of my father! I cried in my head.
He stepped on it, seeing my distress.
"No!" I cried reaching out to try to grab it.
He stood over me and I cowered into the ground as much as I could, let out a whimper knowing what will happen. I was terrified and my heart was threatening to jump out of my chest.
"It is never gentlemanly or polite to try to hurt a young lady." A kind voice said.
My savior had come.
Cliff hanger! Don't worry I'll have the next chapter up really quickly! Hope you enjoyed it. Have I said that I really like Maple x Tea? Sorry for all the Canada stuff... Please comment! I love hearing what people think about my writing.
