"Mother, do I really have to go?" Nightfall asked.

"Nightfall, the queen expects all dragonets here to go to Jade mountain academy." Her mother said. It sounded like she was worried, too.

"We have to?" Nightfall said. "Is she forcing us to go?"

"I have no choice. I will not argue with the queen."

"Um, hello? It's Queen Glory you're talking about! She'll let me stay."

Night's mother sighed. "The number of dragons in Jade mountain academy has decreased. Queen Glory is worried. If dragons will no longer attend Jade Mountain Academy, they'll have to take it down."

"So? We can just learn here, in the rainforest."

"Nightfall, you have to listen to me. Queen Glory demands that all dragonets will go."

"Mother, you have to listen to me. I don't want to go." Nightfall said. "I remember what Moon told me, mother. Disasters are always happening there. It's dangerous."

"Maybe it's not what it seems, okay? Nightfall, no matter what you say you're still going."

"Oh, so now you're on Queen Glory's side? You're forcing me to go too?"

"I'm not on anyone's side, Nightfall! I just need to do what's right!"

"I don't want to go mother!" Nightfall shouted so loudly that almost every dragon could hear.

Nightfalls mother's face turned from worry, to fury. "You're going, Nightfall." She said sternly. "We will not speak of this anymore."

"But mother-"

"No, Nightfall. You are going and that's it."

Nightfall sighed.

"When are we going, mother?" She asked.

"Tomorrow."

"Here we are, Nightfall. Jade Mountain Academy."

Nightfall looked at her mother and back at the entrance. How could a place so beautiful and large have so few dragons in it?

"Nightfall," Her mother said, "I trust you, okay. You're old enough to care for your own. You're not a tiny dragonet anymore, Nightfall."

"I know, mother." she said just as a few other RainWings and NightWings landed near the entrance.

"Good luck, Nightfall." Her mother said just before she spread her wings and took off into the air.

Nightfall trotted her way to the entrance.

"Hey there!" A dragon in front of her said. She was a NightWing as well.

"Hello! I'm Fatespeaker. And you are?" She asked.

"Oh, um, I'm Nightfall."

"Great! You're in the Jade winglet."

"Oh, thanks," Nightfall said.

Where are the dorms? Nightfall thought.

"They're to your left!" Fatespeaker said, as if she could read minds or something.

Nightfall just nodded and started navigating her way to the dorms. She sighed in relief as she finally reached her destination.

As she entered she noticed no one was there yet, just a sleeping MudWing.

"Huh," Nightfall said then started observing the room some more.

She saw two unclaimed vine hammocks and a stone ledge for her to sleep in. Since Nightfall had a hammock back home in the rainforest, she decided it would be a good idea to claim that because she was more used to it.

As Nightfall was organizing her things, the loud snoring of the MudWing stopped. Nightfall had never realized how quiet it was until the snoring stopped.

"Um, hello?" She said as she turned to look back at the MudWing.

The MudWing was now sitting up and rubbing his eyes. "Hey," He said while yawning.

"Hi," Nightfall said awkwardly.

"I'm Earthquake, nice to meet you."

"I'm Nightfall, nice to meet you, too."

Maybe I will make some friends here, Nightfall thought. But that doesn't mean disasters won't stop coming.
