Chicken Soup And Noodles.
Knock, Knock, Knock.
Tony groaned loudly, as he rolled off his bed, and padded through his apartment to the door. Opening it, he was surprised to see who it was.
"Kate?"
"Hey Tony. Mind if I come in?" Kate smiled up at him.
"Uh, sure." Tony let her pass. "What's with the bag?"
"Well, I was passing by and wondered if you fancied some chicken soup and noodles?"
"Passing by? You live about ten blocks away. Not to mention, you drive a different route to me."
"Tony," Kate sounded a little exasperated, but a smile on her lips lessened her tone somewhat. "I brought you Chinese food. The least you could do is to thank me."
"Thank you, Kate," Tony grinned, and Kate found herself giggling. Heading to the kitchen, Kate put the bag onto the top, and searched for two plates.
"So, how are you getting on Tony?" Kate placed the plates delicately on the table, and brought the bag over.
"I'm going to go insane," Tony replied. Kate giggled loudly. "I don't need all this time off." He placed cutlery on the table, and grabbed a pair of glasses.
"Don't be silly Tony. You had the plague." She grinned at him playfully. "Besides, the office has been so quiet, and we've got loads of work done."
"Thanks Kate," Tony's sarcastic voice sounded from the kitchen. "You know, you really know how to make a guy feel better, after nearly dying."
"Sorry Tony."
They both sat at the table, tucking into the Chinese food.
"So, what have you been doing?" Kate asked, between mouthfuls.
"Watching movies. Y'know, the classics. The classics are the best."
"You've been watching movies all day?" Kate sounded a little incredulous.
"Not really. I've been sleeping a lot. But when I'm not sleeping, eating or watching movies, I've been catching up with my reading."
"Penthouse?" Kate grinned mischievously.
"Words can hurt, Kate," Tony replied, pointing his chopstick at her. "Besides, Penthouse isn't exactly what you would call decent reading material."
"And what would you call decent reading material?"
"NOT Penthouse."
"Hustler?" Kate quipped, jokingly.
"You seem to know quite a few of those select magazines, Kate."
"Only what I picked up from hanging around you, Tony."
They laughed, and quickly finished the meal. Kate grabbed the dishes, and put them into the dishwasher. Tony finished clearing the table. Kate grabbed her coat, and headed to the door.
"Kate, do you fancy a movie?"
"Tony, I would. But I have to be up in the morning and it's already quite late. Maybe some other time?"
"Sure," Tony replied, keeping the disappointment out of his voice.
"I'll see you soon, Tony." She closed the door behind her.
"Yeah. See you soon, Kate."
