THE EARL OF SANDWICH
By: Vanessa Sgroi
Sam entered the bunker's kitchen, mug in hand, intending to get a refill on coffee. He was brought up short when he saw Dean desperately searched the kitchen; opening cupboard after cupboard. Sam approached the coffee maker with a frown.
"Dean, what are you doing?"
Dean mumbled an answer.
"What?"
"I'm looking for marshmallow fluff."
"Uh, why?"
"Why else? I have a serious craving for a peanut butter and fluff sandwich."
"Seriously? Those things are disgusting." Sam grabbed the coffee pot and filled his mug.
"You didn't think so when we were kids. In fact, I seem to recall they were your favorite for a long time.
"Yeah, well, I grew up and my palate changed." Sam took a sip of hot brew. "Unlike yours apparently."
Dean shrugged. "What can I say? I'm craving a fluffernutter...with a giant glass of milk. C'mon, you gotta admit that sounds good."
"Uh, no." Sam grimaced.
"You just don't know good food."
"I know good food—good-for-you food. You," Sam pointed a finger at his brother, "You know junk food."
Dean opened the last cupboard and gleefully yelled, "Score! I knew there was some here." He waggled the jar and walked to another cupboard for the peanut butter. "You with me? We'll throw some banana on yours to make it healthier for you..."
"Peanut butter and banana—I'll skip the fluff."
"Come on, Sammy—live a little."
Fifteen minutes later, Sam finished the last of this sandwich and reached for the loaf of bread.
"What're you doing?" mumbled Dean around a bite of his sandwich.
"I'm making another one..."
"I thought you didn't like them anymore." He swallowed and reached for his glass of milk.
Sam grinned. "I changed my mind."
