Paxton

Jackie's phone buzzed in the middle of the night. She glanced at it with a sick feeling in her stomach. It wasn't Nick or anyone else from the lab though, it was a text message from her brother-in-law Matt.

Jackie opened the message and a picture of an adorable newborn baby popped up with a message that said:

Paxton Henry Stokes 7 pounds 2 ounces. Both mommy and baby are doing great!

"He's precious." Jackie said out loud to herself.

She debated whether to call them, or just text back, she finally decided to just text and then she'd call them when Nick got home the next morning.

He's beautiful, congratulations! Love you all! She texted back.

She then called Nick.

"Hey Jacks, is Nora not sleeping well tonight?" He asked as he answered the phone.

"No, Nora is asleep. Did you get a text message from Matt?" She asked.

"Yeah, what a cute little guy. He has a ton of hair huh?" He said.

"Yeah he does! I figured we could call them tomorrow when you got off."

"That sounds like a good idea." He agreed.

"So you are on your lunch break?" She asked.

"Yeah, I just had taken a bite of my sandwich when you called."

"Alright, I'll let you finish your lunch. Be safe, I love you."

"Love you too, see you in the morning."

After the call ended Jackie went back to sleep.

The next morning Nick called and said he'd be late getting home.

Jackie called all the kids into the living room. She pulled the picture of baby Paxton up on her phone and showed it to the kids.

"Baby No." Hundley said happily.

Jackie laughed.

"No sweetheart, that isn't baby Nora, that's baby Paxton, he's your baby cousin, he's your uncle Matt and Aunt Amy's baby."

"We go see him?" Hundley asked.

"We'll go visit him during spring break in a couple weeks, and that way uncle Matt and Aunt Amy can meet baby Nora too."

"We take him home?" Hundley asked.

"No we can't take him home kiddo, uncle Matt and Aunt Amy would miss him."

"No." She argued.

"Yes they would just like you would miss baby Nora."

Hundley frowned, she really wanted to take the new baby home.

"What do you guys want for breakfast?" Jackie asked.

"Waffles." Karlie said happily.

"Is waffles alright with everyone?" Jackie asked.

By some miracle all the kids agreed that waffles were fine.

Jackie made the waffles and then the family enjoyed the lazy Saturday morning while waiting for Nick to get home.

The End!
