Sometimes, late at night, when he's had a little too much to drink and his pain is feeling a little too heavy, he sees his friends in the stars. He sees the bard he'd loved writing, her quill scribbling and stardust sprinkling from it, and he watches as the Warrior Princess goes to her lover and takes her into her arms. He sees their kiss emblazon the Heavens and then watches as they dance across the brilliantly shining stars, Xena leading her love through the cosmos as she always had in life.
He watches them dance and pays silent homage to their love. A grander union he's never seen nor ever has he known two people more fit for each other. They are truly perfect together, as soul mates should be, two halves of one whole and only complete when united with each other. He watches their love outshine the Heavens, and he bows his head and cries for he is but a mere, mortal man and can never hope to free them from death or have a love as grand.
At dawn, Joxer moves on, carrying their love in his heart and knowing he'll see them again that night.
