Tyler's and Liv's thoughts after their argument in S6x01. Minor spoilers for the premiere. Enjoy!
Hello, my lovely readers. This is just a little drabble about the potential between Ty and Liv since I would love to see the writers of TVD tap into this potential for an epic romance. But if they don't, we always have fanon. Ah, and I'm not sure what Liv and Luke's history is so I'm speculating here. On with the show…
Let Me Rest By Your Side:
Tyler had no idea what to say when she asked, "What is it that you want me to do?" he could see the exasperation in her eyes. But there was more. She was torn. There was some part of her that wanted to answer her own question. Or maybe that's what he wanted to believe made her hesitate. She could have just walked away. Liv didn't have to stay and hear him out. Nor did he have any reason to try to reason with her or to even want to try to make any kind of connection with her.
For any number of reasons, Liv should be his enemy. They should be walking down opposite sides of the line that he was trying desperately to walk down. She wasn't Caroline. He knew that. She was not going to stay and hold him when he finally lost it and killed someone and triggered his freakin' curse. It was just a matter of time. When she looked at him, he could tell that she saw him as a lost cause. That he was just a jackass. She wasn't Caroline. She didn't see the good in people. He didn't think that she even saw the good in herself.
Maybe he was wrong.
Liv was horrified by her conversation with Tyler. Why had she even bothered to talk to him? He had almost killed her brother. Luke was all she had and even though they didn't agree about everything, he was all she had. There was no one else. Everyone else was dead and gone. Luke would argue that they had the coven, but they didn't always follow the rules and then they were punished for acting out.
Walking out of Tyler's building, Liv wrapped her arms around herself, meeting the world with her go-to expression, a scowl that told people to stay the hell away. She had learned long ago to scare people away. She was too powerful and sometimes it was too much and people died. Talking to Tyler triggered something in her because she knew what it was like to be powerful and to think that you could control the destinies of other's. What he hadn't mentioned was that there was a component to that power that was terrifying. So, yeah, she got it. And, yes, she carried around the guilt of not being able to bring his friends back. And there was a part of her that wanted to let him in but she couldn't.
They both knew that they were no good for each other. Each had been through too much. They did too much. They hurt too many people. If they were together, they might destroy each other or everyone else in their path. They knew if they were together that they would set their worlds on fire, and possibly be consumed. They were afraid of being hurt, of screwing the whole thing up, of falling in love. They knew that they couldn't be together because of all that potential for chaos. But they needed each other. They needed comfort. They needed to be restrained. They needed to walk into the fire, hand in hand and let it consume them whole.
Thank you everyone who favs, follows, reads and/or reviews this story. I will probably write more about this new potential couple as the season continues. And they will be one of the couplse in my new story, "A Not so Brief Tour of MF High."
Peace,
Jessica
