Just say yes
It was a cold crisp December afternoon during seventh year. Remus and Sirius were outside for a walk in the snowy fields. They had been dating since third year and thankfully, James and Peter never had an issue with them being together. The only thing James had asked from them was that they NEVER shag on his bed.
The snow started to fall in fat clusters. Sparkling in the light the flakes rested in Remus' hair making him look even more beautiful in Sirius' opinion. Sirius loved the snow; his mother had never let him play in it growing up. She deemed it childish and forced him instead to learn piano and Latin. Sirius ran up behind his boyfriend and hugged him. Remus was shivering so Sirius wrapped his scarf around his boyfriend to keep him warm. The snow really started to come down. Seeing the snowfall in such a magical way got Sirius very excited, the timing was perfect.
"Hahaha Rem baby look it's snowing"
"I can see that Padfoot" Remus said with a chuckle. Remus hates the snow but seeing Sirius so happy and carefree makes being cold and wet worth it.
"I know you hate the snow but I bet I can help you learn to love it"
"padfoot we are not shagging in the snow, frost bite is never sexy. The sooner you see that the better" Remus said with a teasing tone.
"I bet you didn't see this," Sirius said letting go of Remus and reaching into his pocket fiddling to grab whatever it was with his thick gloves on.
Sirius got on one knee in the middle of the empty hillside, took his hand and asked Remus to marry him.
This was a huge shock for Remus. Neither of them had ever brought up the topic of marriage. Sirius had grown up seeing arranged marriages and pureblood first cousins getting married and so Remus wouldn't blame him if he never wanted to get married. In the pureblood world, marriage was a business tactic and a way to control a family. In the black velvet box layed a beautiful gold ring .The ring was a simple band with small diamonds, not over the top but not plain the perfect kind for him. The inside of the band had the word forever engraved into the metal.
"Sirius we can't get married its illegal because of my condition," Remus said sadly with tears threatening to fall like the snow.
Sirius smiled and stood up. Wrapping his arms around his boyfriend's waist, he steeped closer and said. "I don't care if we have the paper work, as long as I know you are mine forever. I want to wake up beside you every morning , argue about stupid things , trip over the books you leave on the floor, take care of you after the full moon and most importantly I want to love you with every beat of my heart. It won't be a perfect life but it will be ours. Just say yes"
Without a second thought Remus kissed him and said….
"Yes"
